Thanks

have had the SmallHD for over a year and love it. But it is HDMI, so that may (and with connector/cable issues, should be) an issue.
But it is clear, but not as bright, I am told, as the Red. But it seems to me to have much better off-axis viewing than the Red.
But they do not make that model now:( The supplier for the panel died, or quit making them..
I have not compared it to anything else. I just wat to be honest. I like it, but look forward to having a Red solution and the Bomb soon.

Yeah I saw their site saying the 8.9" Model Discontinued any way, but was thinking more in the lines of Marshall,
but before I buy I want to hear opinions here of the best available, I have a 7" PRO ordered form Red but there is still a
backorder on them, too bad I did sold 2 of them not long ago, thinking I was going to get my Epic-X's with the Touchtone Monitors by now, hehe.
But since we are waiting I decided to buy an other Red One MX camera and now need all the accessories.. again ;)

Hi Ketch:
Although only 8", it's the best!
Focus puller will love the "focus in red" and 200% enlarge while recording features.
Panasonic BT-LH80WP HD-SDI 7.9" Multi-Format Color LCD
I'm aware of nothing else like it that can mount on camera and power off d-tap.

I'd vote for the Sony PVM-740 OLED monitor. The screen is gorgeous, outclassing just about everything else available in its size and price range. I can't imagine any professional being disappointed with this monitor. We have them on display in our showrooms if you want to stop by for a look. The link below is our Sales page with lots of specs, an if you click on the VIDEO tab there's a video blog I did on it at NAB this Spring.

Thanks guys,
now I should have mentioned that I still wish to also have a Monitor that is fully compatible with the R1, and shows all Menu functions as well.
Also since I use V-Mount batteries for both camera and some of the Lighting gear, I don't want anything else that V-Mount Battery gear, does the Panny comes with V-Battery Mount or only AB Battery Mount?
Mitch that is a Great Monitor, especially I like the 3D Flip mode which could come extremely use in a later set up for S3D rigging, but also seems that, unless I'm reading it Wrong, while using it now with the R1-MX in Vertical/Portrait Mode, to both take advantage of the full 4.5k resolution when shooting Stills, does it means that it does both Horizontal and Vertical Flip, meaning that while the R1-MX is on its side, the Monitor will flip the image Vertically for me?

Ketch if you wanna take my smallhd out for a spin let me know. I got one of the last ones before they discontinue them. It's great because you can switch between full menu display or just plain timecode out. (I wouldn't be opposed to selling it to you if you liked it either.) ^_^

What you are asking for is referred to as a FLIP (vertical) as well as a FLOP (horizontal). This monitor will give you all options.
Panasonic monitors come with Anton Bauer mounts, but I have seen them adapted to V-mount. Sony monitors are V-Mount. Both also have XLR-4 inputs so that they can be powered via a cable from the camera.

Ketch, if I am not mistaken, the Red has the option to flip the output of the image (in camera) to monitors.

Actually that would not be a bad idea, why are you thinking of selling it? What does not work for you of this monitor? This is the large one correct? Not interested in small Monitors ;)

Great Mitch, problem is.. I really dislike a power adaptors, so not sure how would I take care of a AB to V mount.

I don't remember if the option on the R1 it self is for the Flip or Flop of the image, I think is only for the Flop, but not sure, will have to look in to this, I didn't used the R1 before for Portrait work, my guys did, and didn't pay attention to what they were doing ;)

It is the 9" dp1x model. And nothing it works just fine, just a good excuse to hang out haha.
As for the flip/flop: System > Setup > Program > Video

was this monitor actually produced?

Okay then if the R1 does both Flip and Flop (hehe) then I don't need to worry about finding a Monitor that does that ;)
Hanging out is cool with me Justin ;)

I'm not talking about an adaptor, I'm saying that some have removed the Anton Bauer mount and replaced it with a V-mount. Don't recall what the mounting is like in there -- might need an interim plate made to mate them properly -- but it can be done.

Oh, okay Mitch, then that would be different, I tough it was a V Plate on top of the AB plate, will do some digging on this one.

Thanks Mitch,
will do, awaiting the final invoice from James for the Denz DVF kit, and the CFF-1 kit, and if this can work I'll have him add the Sony PVM-740 OLED monitor with modified V mount.

No need to modify the V-mount on the Sony PVM-740. It comes with a V-mount already installed. It is the Panasonic monitor that would need to be modified from Anton Bauer to V-mount.
I think you'll be very happy with the Sony 740.
