Hey guys... I've been looking for a set of lower cost primes to purchase. I've been a big fan of the Red Primes and find myself liking those more than superspeeds. I also own a 5d that I would love to exchange glass with on certain projects, which is why the Compact Primes stood out to me...

I haven't read many reviews on them so I figured I would ask here peoples thoughts compared to RED Primes. Also, would a normal person be able to change out the lens mounts from EOS to PL and back? Thanks for your time...

Yesterday I shot a national spot on them with 7D cameras and a 5D (which we didn't use). Lenses had the EF mount. Major benefits over RPP.

1. Aprrox 1/3 the weight.

2. Smaller size

3. FF coverage and EF mounts. But the RPP can be mount swapped to EF or new PL mounts w the Optitek PL2EOS adapter (for APS-C size Canons). I'm planning to do this with a set of RPP very soon.

4. More witness marks, although they were not all that accurate on the 7D cams we were using yesterday. I think it's the EF mount and loose tolerance on the camera body mount. But, just having more index marks lowers the risk of a buzzed shot.

I prefer the 21mm over the 18mm but I'm not that big on the 18mm as a focal length in general. The major bummer is the slower speed on the 18, 21, 25. The lenses are bigger than SS and standards.

EDIT. There was a small bit of play in the mount connection which caused image shift when changing focus direction. The CP2 EF mounts have a 1/4" 20 thread insert on the bottom... My AC said he worked with the lenses on a feature w 5D.. and had a lens support created to solve the issue.
