I get slightly faster than real time transcodes to ProRes 422 from RedCineX with the Red Rocket.
I get full resolution & full frame rate playback on R3D files in RedCineX with the Rocket.

So why, if Adobe CS5 is "rocket aware", is the performance no where near what RCX delivers?

How could a 10 second R3D file (with minor key and color effects) take 15 minutes to render from After Effects ? (the rocket couldn't possibly be working could it)?

Why do I only get 1/4 quality playback in Premiere?

In Premiere the rocket is enabled and I don't have any other applications open that are using the Rocket.

Is this a graphics card problem? Perhaps a drive speed problem?
I do not have a cuda card installed (I'm using an ATI 4870)... because I thought the rocket was doing all the lifting? I know the rocket and a cuda card are supposed to work in unison and compliment each other but a 15 minute render is horrible.... and 1/4 resolution playback is no better. Would an Nvidia card make that much difference? If so what's the point of the Red Rocket card when using CS5? Why not just get an Nvidia quad 4000 and forget about the Red Rocket?

System in Question:

Mac Pro 8 core 2.26 with 16GB RAM (Snow Leopard)
ATI 4870
Red Rocket
G-Raid via esata (media drive)
Adobe CS5 suite

The CUDA card won't be doing de-bayering, that's the Rocket.

so if the rocket is supposed to be doing de-bayer then what's going on?
