depends on what we are doing...with the euro plate I can quickly switch to a dutch head and back w/o tools.

If I am staying on sticks and one head I'll use the Arri dove tail

We have just added a very nice mint condition Cooke/Technovision 18-90mm T2.3 Zoom lens to our package. The lens is the very rare Technovision modified lens and it has a wonderful look. It cuts nicely with our Ultra Primes.

Where'd you purchase it Greg?

The debate is whether its a T2.8 or T2.3. Mine is clearly labled in the lens front and iris ring T2.3...other lenses are reportedly T2.8.

In either case the lens is a real beauty...the look is very sweet.
As far as where you get one, I suspect, especially in todays climate, that would be very hard. The lens is rare to begin with...coupled with the huge demand for glass post Red these are not easy to find.

Some history, as I know it.
The lens was originally a Cooke 20-100 T3 lens that was modified by Technovision in Italy (they were like Panavision today). They did several mods including in some case replacing the elements (not sure on the 18-90), adding elements, increasing the wide end and greater stops. They were most famous for their Anamorphic mods.
The biggest fan of the Techno lenses was Storaro, who advertised them for Technovision and used them on most of his work. They didnt make that many of these lenses, thus their rarity.

I have only played with it for a day, but find the lens very sharp. It has a very nice warm look, I am very pleased with the look of the lens especially on my Red. I plan on shooting some footage on 35mm with it next week.

With how rare the 18-90 is I wonder if possibly technovision had sold a T2.8 version and a T2.8 version? There just is not a whole lot of info out on these techno conversions. I own a 18-90 techno cooke T2.8 so I kid with Greg about his T2.3. I have had mine bench tested and it checks out slammed wide open past the T2.8 mark at just above T2.5. There very well could have been two versions of this lens built. If any lens buffs know background on this it would be cool to hear. Any way you slice it though the techno/cookes are faster then the 20-100 cookes or even the new 18-100 cookes.
