So RED team, how close did I get?
I based my measurements on the 54mm PL-mount barrel. I adjusted for perspective, formed a pixel:mm ratio and rounded off.
I'm probably considerably off [pixels... are pixels], but it's a good guess until official specs are posted.

Seems a little bit big to me if I think of the picture of Spike next to a HVX, but you're probably not far off. I like small, so it may be wishful thinking.
Cheers,
Damien
PS I'm looking forward to March!

The S4's front element is 110mm for comparison.

The S4's front element is 110mm for comparison. That is probably one of my favorite photos of RED. Really gives you feel for its size.

Hi guys,
Didn't Jim say that he was going to change the design of Spike to..something bigger and more tank-ish?

No. The bigger, more tank-ish design you saw was Frankie - an earlier prototype model. Jim did announce that the camera's final weight has increased from approximately 7lbs to approximately 8lbs.

Actually I do recall Jim stating that he has infact decided to beef up the body of the new prototype..

I can live with 8lbs. Red, Red-Raid, lens, battery, matte box, and some sort of remote follow focus; I'm still light enough to fit on my steadicam :D

I may very well stand corrected...

Jim said that the camera would be more "tank-like" and would be gaining about a pound. Beyond this, I don't think we know anything else. I'm assuming most of the juicy details will come sometime next month and we'll get to see final prototypes / possibly even a shipping version at NAB.
