T1.9/9.8mm also. Not fisheye. With Super 35mm coverage.

It wasn't a buy it now option it was the starting bid that was $1500. Also the Lomo lenses have extremely nice glass. Wider lenses are generally more expensive than the other primes and I would be surprised if the new Russian lense that's 10mm wouldn't be as well. As for the price on the new lenses I'm not sure the guy got it right are we sure that he's not confusing it for euros? See that would be the price that Optica-Elite has been putting themself to all along. I'm no saying he's no right but I'm not sure that if it's for exmple Elite that it's right.

this is a great opportunity for someone to send a guy in russia a Wire transfer
or a check and wait for it to clear before being completely convinced they got
ripped off.
I want to meet the high bidder, I have a friend in Nigeria....

I cant vouch for this seller, but I have seen his listings on Ebay for over 5 years now....he has sold a ton of lenses.

He's legit I've bought anamorphics for $15K from him

Actually most of the Russian Cine gear ebayers are legit. Just check their feedback. It's hard to deal with Russia though a lot of waiting for transfers etc which is nerve wrecking the first times.

Yes, nothing wrong with the seller. Seems to me the poster is referring the buy it now price... Half of the auction's end price.

wow you are a brave soul. I should have checked the feedback before throwing the red flag, but you have to admit, the look of the auction at first
glance is rather dubious.

No, I know at least one unsuspicious reduser who has bought from him. With no problem at all. The problem is the buy it now basis. This guy will spend twice the original price. Why? He probably didn't realize or check the original $1,550 price. Buy it now. Not the auction's starting bid of $1,450.
And now he should pay $2,550.

Maybe the first bidder didn't think anyone else would bid and the starting bid was less then the Buy It Now price. Once the first bid is placed, the Buy It Now option is no longer available. At least that is how I remember it works. I haven't been on eBay in a couple years.

As Curran said, once a bid is placed buy it now is gone and nothing to stop a higher bid. Obviously the end bidder thought it was worth it and I was seriously looking at it too. If I had already had my cash in place for my RED purchase in 45 days (#206) I might have bid that high myself, but didn't know that much about lomo and still looking at using the Canon 10-22 which I already have, on the birger EOS mount.
Don't see why you would call him a jerk though, still seems like a decent price for a 10mm PL mount lens. The 9.8 mentioned is vaporware at the moment and not available for six months or more according to manufacturer, and no guarantee that it is better. Sometimes a 10mm in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Yes, seems it's overpriced.

I concur. $1,550 would be fair. $2,550 for such deal is too much.

After all, next Feb/March it will be available a 9.8mm Super 35mm coverage lens for $2,000/2,500. New glass... Optar glass.
Faster... T1.9

Aqua, it's not vaporware. It's confirmed for Gregory from Optar. His partner has just practiced a secrecy policy for legal issues.

Simply a jerk. It had been 5/6 days for $1,550. It just ended for $2,550.00

It's vaporware until it is produced. Nothing negative in that - it just doesn't exist yet hence vaporware. As far as I know there aren't even any prototypes and I spoke to Gregory just a couple of weeks ago.

That is typical of any sophisticated ebay user - it is called sniping - in fact I use an automated sniping system called esnipe which automates the process and snipes your bid six seconds before the end of the auction so no one knows that you are interested and can't respond with a higher bid until it is too late. You sound bitter about it - were you the other bidder? BTW I heard about the auction through someone on reduser.
5 months from now. Next Feb/March. $2,000-2,500 range.
Where did you get that information? - supposedly the wide angle was to be last - and is the wide the same price?
Fredrik Callinggard

I agree with you aquavideo. This guy went in and sniped the last 5 secs. He obviously knew want he wanted. I was watching this lens and I never saw a buy it now option? All I saw was a guy that had bid $1550 but maybe that was our Tim Roth wannabe Mr Orange

I know this guy personally, as I shoot for him. He is not a jerk, quite the opposite in fact. He is a top international commercial/musicvideo DP/director(Madonna,Depeche mode etc). He just made a stupid mistake because the "buy it now" option was gone, we had a good laugh about it after the fact. BTW He has bought lots of lenses from this seller and is usually extremely ebay savy.
