I just picked up this PL remounted zeiss 180mm on ebay for $420 from seller sovjak. Its very clean and has a great focus rotation. He has some 80mm's and some 120mm's there as well but I have a 85mm compact prime on order from Duclos. I probably won't use a 180 that much but at that price it's a steal.

Yeah, I saw those listings and almost bought one. Are they multicoated? The one I was looking at had "MC" in red where the later ones have the T*...I'm wondering what the difference may be (if other than the branding).
Thanks,
Larry

I bought one just because they are so cheap. They are Ziess Jenna lenses. A nice enough lens, not very contrasty, but that's a turn of the dial nowadays. I wanted a long lens that I could use run and gun that wasn't very heavy, and it has served nicely.

I have one of these as well. Excellent glass! They're originally Pentacon 6 mount, so will cover the Epic 645...

MC are multicoated. I didn't think that the jena (east german ) lenses used T*. The formula may have been the same. Anyone other lens geek know?

I prefer the older (1960s) medium format Ziess Jenna lenses.
They have a special look to them - I call it "Buttersharp".
Not for everyones taste though.
I did some writeup here:

got one of these as well as the 120mm. They match pretty well to the RPZ 17-50 oddly enough. Not quite as contrasty or sharp... but close. Color wise they are just a hair off the 17-50. I am thinking of getting the 85 as well.
