I've never actually used aperture before, but it'd be interesting to send out REDcode RAW files to aperture for post manipulation...maybe as a batch or TIFF sequence.

Any people who use Aperture think this is a decent idea? Maybe there aren't enough users yet to make this a good developmental process for the RED team. I'd be interested to see how Aperture can handle the straight RAW files.

I find Aperture good, with some nice tools, but a bit slow, and lacking nice things like proper curves. As soon as you try to do some "heavy" stuff, it can go very slow, but for normal use, it's fine with photos.

Good to know Graeme. Interesting to see that it's slow. Apple was all about the RAW workflow, too bad that they don't even have things lke proper curves. Maybe the next generation of Aperture will be faster?

Well, I don't find you need the curves - there's other ways of working, and it does good raw conversions. Speed is a funny one - it all depends on what you're doing - sometimes it feels fast, others slow. Overally, a good app, but always room for improvement.

Redcine will have a similar functionality to Aperture anyway, right? Isn't it kind of like Aperture or lightroom for .R3Ds?

For the most part yes.
