ProMax is holding another event that will feature the RED camera. This time, however, it will be at the Folino Theater at Chapman University this Friday, October 26th, with a morning and afternoon session. This is a beautiful state-of-the-art facility featuring 2K projection, among many other impressive amenities.

For those who are interested, Brad Hagen and company from VRi will be there to talk about the camera, along with Martin Euredjian from eCinema Systems talking LCD technology and monitors. ProMax will also be there to talk a bit about post workflow and backup and archiving. We'll have one of the NextoDI ND-2525 CF back up devices on hand as well.

We are trying to pull together a montage of footage that has already been shot with the camera to show on the big screen, but we don't have much time. If you've got something you'd like to submit, please contact me offline ASAP. My contact details are below.

The venue will hold 500 people. We don't expect to fill it, but who knows? We'd suggest registering sooner rather than later.

"We'll have one of the NextoDI ND-2525 CF back up devices on hand as well."

should we assume that the NextoDI 2525 works with 8gig and up CFcards (UDMA cards) ?

Here's what we've found in our testing so far:

8GB CF cards work no problem, and we don't expect issues with larger cards. We are now testing with larger individual file sizes to see if there is any issue there, ie if you fill an 8GB card with one large file, will that still transfer without issue. We should have an answer on Friday. There are other posts about the Nexto on this forum, but haven't seen this issue specifically addressed.

We are testing with both 7200RPM and 5400RPM drives, no significant differences in transfer rates between the two. Drive access time is not an issue as these are simple file transfers.

Remember, the biggest file size you'll see on a RED CF card is 2GB.
