Until we find out what the "white paper" from Avid has to say on an Avid workflow, I'm curious if temporary workaround for folks who need to cut on Avid might be (1) get footage into Final Cut, (2) export OMF files from Final Cut using Automatic Duck, so that (3) Avid can import that footage and read all timecode.

Automatic Duck does not export video media from FCP to Avid. An FCP offline can be transferred to an Avid to be conformed off tape using Autimatic Duck. Automatic Duck embedded media is only for sending audio to Pro Tools. I don't think this would do anything to help a Red workflow.

Why not use the application Avid Log Exchange?
Import an FCP batch list - Export an ALE.
Use the ALE to batch import the QTs into Avid.

Maybe the RED quicktime refs can be imported in one step directly to Avid DNxHD 36/115/175 if the redcode codec is installed?

The issue is getting the metadata from the files itself before getting any type of offline to online workflow to work. Until that is transparent, I cannot finish the whitepaper.
