Hey all. . .
In an earlier thread, I warned my fellow REDUsers away from Canon's 135mm f2 L-Series lens. I tried THREE different lenses (all purchased brand new from three different locations), and all of them suffered from a horrid image shift (left to right or right to left) as you pulled focus back and forth using the Birger.
Well, desperately wanting that focal length, I decided to try one last time. Apparently, either Canon has made some changes to the mechanics of this lens or else I finally got a winner, but I finally got a lens that has virtually zero image shift.
On the other hand, this lens breathes quite a bit on huge pulls from close-focus to infinity, but it's such a sharp, beautiful lens, and is so relatively fast, that I had to buy it. I'm happy enough to keep it. . . but if they come out with a MK II version that breathes less, I might sell this one and try that one.
Hope you have a great 2011.
