RED 17-50mm Mattbox's

Our company just picked up a couple RED 17-50mm and I need a little help finding the lightest clip on mattbox/sunshade available for the 144mm outside ring diameter. If anyone has any suggestions on what models I should be looking at, that would be great. I'm not interested the huge Arri MB series. The LMB sounds good although i am not sure which one works best with that lens. If there are any other solutions i m all ears. I wish someone made a rubber fold up lens shade that fit. For what I do that would be sweet. Thanks for any help on this.

The Arri MMB-1 with the larger black clamp adapter is light and clamps on to the 17-50. I have this setup. This would give you two filter stages, the rear one rotating. I dig mine, not sure who else does a clamp on.

Do you have the part # for that clamping adapter?

Did you buy it for the Red 17-50mm? I thought the largest ring available for the MMB-1 was 143mm.

Never mind Chris just PM me and said that there is plenty of room in the spring for it fit over the 144mm. But if anyone has any other light weight MB solutions for this Lens please feel free to chime in.

MMB-1 is cheapest lightest setup I could find... It works great though I do find myself retightening the clamp often.

Download the PDF which lists all the parts and all the part numbers. Then Call Abel cine and have them order it. They come really fast. I got the 143 back for the 17-50 as well as the stepdown locking rings for the RPPS.

Don't think OC sells a 150-143 clamp ring. Just checked one out at Abel. Built like a tank but is heavy for a clamp on. For simplicity and weight you may want to check out Arri LMB 5 or Chrosziel clamp ons (they usually have a ton of ring options).
