My latest short film, The Majesty of Muck, highlighting the underwater macro life of the northern Sulawesi region was awarded the Special Jury Golden Palm award at the World Festival of Underwater Images which has been running for the past week here in the south of France.
OK so its not the same as some of the dizzying accolades others here have attained but its a start.

Thats me on the right holding my award, the guy on the left is Danny Van Velle from Belgium who won the overall Golden Palme for his film 'Les Fenteres de la Vie" a film about percieved fish vision.
Cheers,
Mark.

Congratulations Mark!
Probably it is a kind of "Jacques Cousteau OSCAR".

Very well done mate! Richly deserved I'm sure ! You wait till you get your RED - then they'll have to invent another award for something that superb!
I'm really happy for you! We'll have to get together and celebrate soon!
Let me know when you're back in blighty.
All the best, Phil

Maybe it's not the same as some of the dizzying accolades as SOME others here, but it is a much higher accolade than many or even most of us have achieved. Cannesgratulations!

Hi all,
Thanks for the kind words, all very much appreciated.
The film is about 14 minutes long and I have thus far converted to iPod format (mp4) to potentially offer it that way. As such it is still 330Mb so quite a size. Once I get back to the UK, tomorrow, I will look at ways to get it posted in one guise or another via either my web site or another option. I wll keep you all informed.
As soon as RED lands I have a plan to look at repeating my visit to the northern Sulawesi area for another Macro short. Networking etc at this past festival has also opened the possibility to go up to the Antarctic to look at doing some diving under the sea ice in the hunt for a pretty illusive predator. All will be revealed in due course.
Again, thanks for the kind words.
Mark.

That's exactly how I pictured you looking for some reason...Is that a good or bad thing? I know I'm no oil painting but hey, that's why I stay at the business end of the cam.
Back in the UK. Looking at ways to get the best rez at the lowest size. Currently taken the finished 14minute film down to iPod mp4 format and it weighs in at 330Mb. Suggestions?
Best,
Mark.
