I must have missed something. I thought it it was just a film test.

I think what KLang is referring to is the whole short film (the 13 minutes).

I see. When I read "release" I thought he meant like when a movie is released. My bad. lol

Oh I see hehe. I think he meant it will be released as an option included within a full length feature film. Besides, it would be great if the RED team could post it on their website for downloading. Anyone has got any news on this?

Hehe. On the aintitcoolnews in April, the one who wrote the article about 'Crossing the Line' said that he heard the full film is hitting RED's website in the near future. I don't know how much "future" is but definately more than 6 months! :)

Might as well be the way they are treating it.

I don't think there are plans to make it publicly available. There is an issue with the music used in it for one. I don't think Jim likes it being viewed any less than 2K since it doesn't do the camera justice. Perhaps it will be available for public viewing in the Red Museum one day :)

I would totally understand Jim's position if that was the case. But it's quite unfair for those who haven't had (or got) the chance of viewing it because, either they live in a country that won't feature such a RED presentation or didn't afford to attend the NAB exhibitions.
And what issues would the soundtrack cause? Because since it's a footage test it will help sales with the RED Cameras?

The soundtrack can be a problem due to music rights.

I see. But if the film is posted on the net just for looking at the final result, being a non-commercial thing, does that still count?

Yes.
I understand the frustration of not seeing it. But it works much better on the big screen. If you want to trust that RedOne can deliver that's the way to watch it. A srhunk down version won't give you that.
By the way this is contrary to my beliefs before I watched it at IBC. I couldn't imagine watching it on a computer monitor and having half the impression.

Then what does one who hasn't/can't see it on the big screen (like me) have to hope for if such is the situation? ...

Would be great if they released it online on the following sunday (11th November) - just in time for Remembrance Day heh! :)

Can someone at least give us a clue of whether it shall ever be released? And if yes, when?
It's something I've been waiting to see for over a year now. The 30sec extract and trailer (personally) do the camera justice; but I also would like to know what PJ managed to do in two days, since all articles seem amazed by it's action packed shots.
Thanks guys ...any hints whatsoever are appreciated

...Kia Ora All!
Just pointing out that "Crossing the Line" will be making its debut on NZ Television in about 18 minutes on Maori Television. It is being shown as part of the ANZAC SHORT FILM FESTIVAL: so any Kiwi's that don't know about it please tune in!

It's just aired on Maori TV here in NZ. I'm very impressed, and that's just SD (albeit via satellite digital). For now I can only imagine what it looked like in 4k.

Thanks faamaoni for that info. Pity that we don't receive the Maori station here in Europe.
So it still ended up being shown on a regular TV screen and not at 4k. I really hope we get the opportunity to see this.
