Cine Xenar Tests [Archive]

Mitch Gross at Abel has contacted me about testing a set of Cine Xenars. I'm in the NYC area. If there's anyone interested in helping that'd be great. I need an AC and someone to move around some small lights.

I plan to test primarily different contrasts and flaring qualities at various focal lengths and apertures. This won't be a science class with charts. Looking to see if this glass has the "Magic" that I've yet to find in the sub 30k lens market.

So it looks like it's happening. Picking up the glass on Thursday. Shooting faces on Friday, exteriors over the weekend and lighting tests on Monday. Can't wait.

Definitely interested in these tests tim. Lots of faces would be great - I hope some exteriors as well. Have fun.

Tomorrow, my business partner is doing HMW tests with leads for a feature. Testing Xenars alongside Cookes and Zeiss. Then on Monday, I'll be doing a comprehensive test just with the Xenars. Because of the high profile of our subjects, we probably won't be able to publicly post our A/B/C tests. I should be able to show them privately. The other tests, I'll be able to make a link. Also, Sunday, I'll probably shoot some exterior tests if I can get access to the Cookes and Zeiss glass.

Since 1 month, we have a set of Cine Xenar Lenses for our customers.
But we did'nt make any test yet.
We are very interested about your test.

I've been on a shoot then a color correction of a feature since the test. Need to transcode, assemble and post link. Probably end of next week.
