hey guys, today i heard about a new cooke zoom, something like a 20-60 remake. T2.6- T2.8 to match the Panchros. Should be lighter and shorter than the old 20-60.
priced around the optimo rouge lenses.
did any of you hear something about that or knows a way to confirm or deny this rumour?
thanks.
(was no online rumour)

hi guys, latest news from cooke.
they are thinking of building a new zoom.
if they decide to go for it, it should be for sale 2012/2013.
lets wait.

Hmmm... possible I guess. Although, I think they would be better served to push their 15-40 T2 much harder and price it more aggressively. One can buy the revised ARRI LWZ 14.5-45 for ~$38K right now. New price. I would prefer the Optimo 15-40 or Optimo DP 16-42 or Cooke 15-40 any day. Of those three, the Cooke is my favorite in terms of look. The DP is the most practical overall in terms of price/performance, but doesn't work on most mechanical shutter cameras due to the very deep rear focal element.
I heard a rumor 2 years ago and repeated more than a couple places, word of mouth, not online... But there was talk of a replacement/update to the 18-100. IMO, that makes more sense to me to update a lens that is no longer in production. Rather than a 20-60 that would cut into sales of another unit that is actively being produced. I could be wrong though, depends on the pricing and other factors.

they didnt say something about the range.
but another long zoom is a possibility of course.
isnt the lwz2 priced around 30k?
and i agree, a cheaper cxx would be great.
