Can anyone confirm the rod spacing’s of the following Red parts (distance between rod centres)?

Red Arri 19mm Base plate............104mm .......see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/45) (corrected)

Red Bottom Plate (19mm).............105mm ...... see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/47)

Red Top Mount (19mm).................105mm ...... see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/49)

Red Universal mount (19mm).........105mm ...... see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/52)

Red 15mm adapter (light weight).... 60mm........ see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/72)

Red Arri 15mm Base plate.............100mm....... see here (http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/43) (offset)

Presently there is no Red 15mm (studio/heavy weight) adapter yet. When it arrives it will be 100mm.

Is the above all correct?

Thanks for any comments,

Dave

I'd put $20 on you being correct on all counts.

Keep in mind that the top mount [19@105] is closer to the lens than the bottom plate [which is at the proper distance].

Hey Brook,

Is there some standard for the distance from center (radius) of the 19mm rods to the center of the aperture? In other words a given height.

thanks,

At least as far as RED accessories are concerned, yes. I think there must be a standard, though... otherwise, how would matteboxes line up?

the 19mm rods from what i have heard from dp's & camera houses, is the international standard, everywhere in the world uses that distance with one execption...HOLLYWOOD...so most rental houses have some 19mm accessories, but the majority are 15mm here in LA.

Hello from Sweden. Never used anything but the 15mm rods in any rod support for matteboxes...

Just a quick note; the center spacing from Arriflex on the 19mm rods/bridge plate is 104mm and is symmetrical about the optical axis. The center spacing for the 15mm system is 100mm with an optical axis offset of 17.25mm.

The height of the optical axis from the rod center on the 19mm system is 120mm while height of the 15mm system is 118mm.

Hope this helps.

Thanks eltech,

Can I ask where you got those numbers? I thought the rod centers on the 19mm rods was 105mm, or is that just a typo? There is also 60mm spacing used on some 15mm rods do you happen to know if it's the same height?

thanks,

Thanks Stephen,

This forum mentioned 105mm and I didn't see any other measurements (probably missed them) so I figured it was worth a confirmation.

I got this measurement diagram from the local Arri guy.

Note, for what it's worth the Arri 19mm console (K2.55031) pictured (& measured) above.

is a different parts to the Arri Adapter for 19mm Rods (K2.47101) below.

Now if I can just work out what 'optical axis offset' and 'height of the optical axis' means, I'll be okay.

1. So you're saying the Red Arri Bridge plate is 104mm, right?
2. What is the distance between Red's 19mm mounts i.e. Bottom plate, Universal mount, etc...)

Cheers,

Well on that drawing it only adds up to 103.5mm. I'm pretty sure it's 105mm though.
