Nice pull...
I love cars that make more power at idle than I can ever hope to make WOT.
Even better, the driver opens the throttle about 12 frames before the green LEDs illuminate. It looks like he crosses the start line 22 frames later. Now that's reaction time. :)

That frame rate is as sooth as silk. Thanks TEAM for making it happen.

This sequence is from a 2K at 72fps (my new favorite) and a 1/192 shutter. It is surprising to me how sharp and nice this combo is for fast moving subjects. The hardest part is pulling focus without any help. Did I say that I love this camera?

Is this the 300mm per chance?
This has got too be my favorite shot so far...

Heck Jim, you should love it. You've had some of the best minds in the industry working on it. I'm just grateful you are generous enough to offer to sell it to the rest of us. Thanks for that.

Did you shoot that hand held or on a tripod?
Jannard
11-01-2007, 08:37 PM
Shot with the only 50-150mm RED zoom on an O'Connor tripod with 1030HD head. I shot this combo "loose".

Nice... Damn it... that 50-150 is really looking good. Can't wait to use one.

2K, huh? I can see bits of rubber on the ground. Simply amazing.
Thanks for sharing,

How about a revolutionary follow focus? where you put a red dot, like a laser on the part of the frame with a small (playstation joystick) and the focus will rack automatically... and maybe with a little smart AI racking the focus smoothly based on vector info. You know, your Canon or Nikon would have had no problem? But even the best AC in Hollywood might have a problem with a quarter mile at 300mph!

and another...
I feel confident to say that the NHRA probably has never seen footage as good as Jim has recorded over the last couple days. ever.

Wow! Amazing! No doubt the best footage they've ever seen.
Jarred you're on a roll--Lets have "another, and another, and another, and another, and a 1K and a 2K, and a 4K tiff..."
:)

Hmm a 4K TIFF from footage that was originally recorded 720p. Perhaps Red (and the team of magic fairies) will come up with really good upconversion? Graeme??? :)
Thom Steinhoff

Okay, a 2K tiff. But Jim's stuff always looks so good I'm sure he's got plenty of 4K tiffs to share from his 24fps stuff.
Where do you get 720p? This 2K @ 72fps!!!

If your images are noisy or not sharp... you are doing something wrong. This is from a 2K original.

Watch the GTX clip carefully. You can clearly see the reaction time it takes to actually step on the gas when the official hits the go light. This couple of thousandth of a second could cost you the race. This footage is incredible to review performances.
The delay could be the lights cycling from red to green. Not exactly sure how the system works. Either way the footage is great review material.

nice focus pulling, by the way. Did you guys from Red develop a body attachable REDArm (C) in the end, to make such things possible?

The detail is amazing. You can see the intakes movement in the chassis as the car takes off......Jim, do you love that camera or what? Not sure if you made that clear yet......

It's a little bit saturated with more red but if you watch it like 2K in a cinema theater then
when you go out your eyes and brain is still blinking from this immersive and colorful experience.
That's an old Hollywood cinema theater trick.
I do have Panasonic 42" plasma and Panasonic is doing the same with a special "plasma processor engine" inside.
And of course I set up the picture to more colorful.
I like it a lot.
A bit saturated colors and you immerse yourself even more in the one another (cinema) reality.

Most consumer electronics such as TV's, camcorders and cameras have over saturated pictures as a default....Not all but alot of consumers associate over saturation with good picture quality. Myself I don't like it.

Not to disrupt the thread, but what is the little band that is a few pixels wide that goes around the outer edge of the frame caused by? I've seen this on several full res grabs. I'm just referrring to the 2K grab posted by Jim, well, and the graded version by Sanjin, also.

I need to write more demosaic code that handles image edge discontinuities better.....

Here (http://www.reduser.net/forum/uploaded/1434_1194026262.jpg), a Tony Scottesque grading. I find the 2K windowed is a wee soft, but I guess it would easily stand a 2K transfer to film.

This is why I've been so excited about this camera for syndicated sports shows.
Make great movies and great shows.
Not to sound unappreciative, but could we get a post of 2K@60p? For play back at 60p, even at a lower resolution?

I'm curious what kind of system you need to display 2k 60p realtime, is that something that's available?
