I tested Panavision Hollywood's set of Kowa's a few years back ( on film ) and was amazed at how good they were.

I feel like with a light soft fx filter (or do it in post) I can get real close to the smoothness of the cooke with my kowas.. but im really digging the kowas.. they are the cool color'd version of cooke.

the bokeh is ridiculous on them... love it..

The Kowa's look great - although the shot with the 40mm is maybe a bit more closed down ? Might want to check the iris scale and see if it's accurate. Thanks for posting larger pictures.

did some CC/curve work.. might have knocked it down a bit.. iris scale is on.. but even still im eye balling 3.1.. kowas dont have a 3.1 mark

Kowa's have amazing flares, very colorful rays of light, not a solid band.
