the superdrives are not yet enabled to burn hd-dvds. you can create hd-dvd templates in dvd studio pro, but if you try to burn an hd-dvd, it won't be able to burn the right codec. now, you can put hd footage on a regular dvd, but it won't be hd quality because it's burned as a standard definition.
there are a few external hd dvd drives that can burn hd dvds in a little faster than real time. take a look on a few websites and you can figure out what is good for what you need.

Justin, that's not entirely true.
YOU CAN BURN HD-DVD FILE STRUCTURES TO A STANDARD DVD-R AND PLAY THEM IN AN HD-DVD PLAYER!
The limitations: Capacity (obviously). Bit rate - max ~10Mbps, but varies by player a bit. No need to worry about either because DVDSP actually holds your hand for this and the MPEG2 compression is optimized for output on a standard DVD-R, even if you're encoding at 1920x1080 HDVD_TS
How to do it:
Export your assets from FCP through Compressor or bring them into Compressor to be encoded. Encode them as MPEG-2 HD-DVD compliant. Currently you can do 720p or 1080i only.
Open DVDSP (duh!)
Open preferences -> Project -> Choose HD DVD from the DVD Standard list.
Under the general tab, HD DVD section, set your target resolution and 16:9 letterbox.
Check your destinations, and encoding settings for MPEG-2 HD under their respective tabs. Apply these settings.
Import your video assets you encoded.
Add your video tracks. Set track 1 to "first play" delete your menu - can't have menus right now, sorry. Set your end action for your last track --- most likely either a stop action or a loop back to track 1.
You will be able to preview your project at this point at HD resolution.
Use the Build and Format to set up and burn to RED LASER DVD-R. You can also just build and have it create your HVDVD_TS folder structure and files. And then burn this right from Finder or Toast.
Drop into HD-DVD player and play.
Works fine for me and I've tested on Toshiba HD-A1, HD-XA2 and HD-A20 players.

Good to know Jeff. I never realized there was a work around. I'll have to try it sometime.
