I really love this lens man. I have been thinking about going this rout when i can get enough skrill together :-) Also was Very curious about the big sister 24-70 and how that was coming along?
Thanks for sharing that footage, That flare at the end is sweet.

I believe at this focal length this lens is just as good as a master prime in the same focal length.
The redesigns is much more than I expected.
Very well engineered and machined.
I also think this the best lens for 3D since it fall into the 3D sweet spot, and the price is much less than other brands options.
Test it for yourself.

Will definitely want to give this lens a try on Epic ;)
Not entirely sure about 3D as each lens must be matched to the other before Calibration, but if it does pan out that would be a great Pair in deed ;)

Nice shooting, but I found something quite strange on the frame while got the lens flair, you can see it right from 01:48 - 02:08, don't not is it some of the dust on the lens or...

To me, the Nikon lens upon which this rehousing/redesign is based is, by a very wide margin, the most spectacular wide angle zoom ever made. At 14 mm, compare it to any prime, Nikon, Canon, a Master Prime, and you'll get a sharper image from corner to corner from the Nikon than anything else. If Focus Optics ever makes the 24-70 and, God hear me, the 70-200, I'll jump in and buy all 3 lenses in a heartbeat.

Matt Duclos is working on a rehoused version of the 70-200. I don't know if it still holds true, but at NAB last year, he told me it would be about $9K. Here's a link with some info:
http://www.ducloslenses.com/Duclos_Lenses/Tele-Cine.html
He's also posted an update on twitter here and there, but not for a while.
Anyway, I'm buying a Nikon mount for my Epics just so I can use the 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 as well as the 24, 35, 50, and 85 f1.4 primes... The 300mm f2.8 VRII and a few others...
Wish someone would do the 24-70 rehousing. I thought Focus Optics had announced it as coming after the 14-24???

Perry,
The little spot that you see is called a dust worm. If anybody sees it, now you know what it looks like when you have a piece of dust on a sensor. Hope this helps. :mad2::biggrin:

from a nikon point of view the 14-24 is super nice. The new 24/f1.4 prime is nicer still... minus the zoom
lots of sample images... page 3 compares the 14-24 to the 24

$125,000 for the 14, 16, 18, 21, & 25mm master primes or $1700 for one Nikon 14-24...if you're right, "Zeiss should be ashamed of themselves" doesn't. even. begin. to cover it.
