Work in 1/8 and then change your project settings before rendering out to disc. Be aware from some testing I've completed that lower resolutions affect the perceived brightness of the footage on your display. Especially true at 1/4 res or less. Others have observed the same thing:

Can you elaborate on that a little more? I had looked through the whole thread and I didn't find any reference to this phenomena.
My system does 1/4 res real time debayer (2009 2.26 GHz octo mac) and I hadn't encountered this issue.

icorptv.com/media/Half-Good.png appears the sharpest on my screen. It also appears slightly brighter allowing one to see more detail in the eyes

Also in the thread that I started: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=54978

Very nice example. It was my eyes.
I render it after with full debayer, but never noticed that I mess it up with brightnes.
With BT Rocket Hack comes 1000$ cheaper than MacPro 12core and you don't have to buy expansion box.
Asus P6T7 Supercomputer 460$
i7 930 250$
Memory 12GB 300$
Cooler 50$
Case 100$
285gtx 300$
GUI card 50$
HD 50$
BT Rocket 3000$
Total cca 4700$ and you will still have an extra PCIe to put another 285gtx or whatever.

But please do your own testing in regards to 1/4 Res and brightness.
