Sorry for the "Are we there yet?" post, but you know customers, it's all about them.
Are these on track for a November release or have both been pushed out to a later delivery?

It seems that across the market vendors are trying to ship many of their 8GB cards before 16GB hit the street, since naturally sales of 8GB cards will slump. This may very well have an impact on when Red can take supply and start selling their own line of 16GB cards perhaps. If it was the case Red may very well be tied to not revealing any details about release dates.
Just a guess - Of course I'm probably wrong lol! :)

Has anyone tried the SanDisk Extreme III cards...will they work?
I saw 16GB cards at CompUSA yesterday

Good for 2K but probably not fast enough for 4K. Bear in mind that you will also get 38 minutes of footage at 2K as well, then it becomes a very cost effective way of shooting.
It might be ok for 4K in some circumstances but in most I'd imagine it will bottleneck and be far too unreliable too often.
I'm willing to bet a lot of people will be shooting 2K on 32GB cards such as those from microdia fairly soon.

Those Microdia cards don't meet the specs according to Mr. Jannard. As I've said before, many companies are making erroneous claims as to the speeds of their cards. If you look carefully, the advertised speeds for these cards are often the read speeds and the write speeds are average at best.

No they don't make the spec for 4K which was my point. You can use them to shoot 2K however since this requires a write speed of anything higher than around 8MBps. The Microdia are 20MBps which is plenty fast enough.
