Hello,

Have anybody found on the literature where the mapping file for the JL Cooper panel is located? I just got the panel, and in trying to using it, it seems that Resolve is not automatically detected so the panel can display the appropriate functions.

Please advise, and thanks,

Hi, please visit http://www.blackmagic-design.com/davinci/support/ for the config guide, and JL Cooper menus and keys. You will also need to select the panel in preferences and restart.

Peter,

Thanks for replying. So, does this mean that there is no need to have a mapping file uploaded into the software, as JLCooper needs for supporting other applications? This is good news, even if it is needed but it is auto loaded by the system by being aware of the software in the foreground.

Thanks,

Hello Luis,

you donīt need a mapping file.
Just go to the preference menu in resolve and change controlsurface to JLCooper, check that IP of the surface matches and Donīt forget to restart Resolve.

Everything is and is not easy.

Easy: if you have installed Resolve, the mapping is within the software, as you all have explained.

Not that easy: the fact is that as of now, such mapping takes control over the panel, and does not allow any other software that the mappings are available from JL Cooper to work (if you can find how, please let me know). Also, you cannot make any re-mapping, or control of the lighting features within the panel.

Again, if someone has found a way to do this, please share with us.

Thanks,

Luis Im pretty sure you have to select what software you are working with every time you switch from Resolve to say Final Cut - You have to tell the Cooper what it is working with, it doesnt automatically know. It stays with the last setting.

For me the only way to use the Cooper with another software app is to deselect it in the Resolve Prferences and restart.
As you mentioned Resolve takes complete control over the Control Surface once configured.

A remapping is not possible until BMD puts this feature into Resolve.
As i read in another forum, BMD implemented the Control surface in the software not JLCooper, so the JLCooper-Software will only help with COLOR and FCP but not DaVinci.
