I'm planning to invest in this Red One camera system, but I am a Canadian citizen. Therefore, I am curious if there are any plans to ship this unit north of the american border. thanks.

Just looked up current duty tariffs for Canada:
TV cameras come under: 8525.80.30 - free
Lenses come under: 9002.11.10 - free
So you'd just have to pay GST on import, which as a business you'd claim back anyway.

I was going to have my camera shipped to my house in Oregon as there is no tax there but now that I hear this news I think I would rather have my camera shipped to my Canada house in Calgary.
If any other Canada shipping RED recipients can post on what they have researched and discovered about getting there camera in to Canada would be great. I think free trade saves things also. Any info would be very helpful.

I'm under the impression that you pay GST as well as the appropriate PST (provincial sales tax) on delivery in Canada. But no duty is payable, as per Graeme's post above.
So in Ontario:
6% GST on $20,000 Canadian = $1200
8% PST on $20,000 Canadian = $1600
TOTAL TAXES: $2800
Fortunately, for those of us who have residences in Alberta, we can avoid PST (there's no PST in Alberta).

Only to reservation holders as of now. The last reservation holder isn't the last camera... there will be more.
