This really blows.... really really blows.

I was going to call and get the refund but I just figure I would help anyone at the end of the line get the camera earlier. Anyways, I am selling the reservation in case anyone far down the line is interested. I have not seen the latest delivery date for this number yet so the expected delivery date I'm aware of is the end of January 08'. The reservation number is big -- I know this, just giving anyone an early start. In case of some upcoming criticism, the reason I'm selling is because I took a tumble this week where I can no longer afford the camera.

If no one is interested by the end of this week, I will speak with rental companies. Other than that I will be calling for the refund next Thursday.

This sucks..

PM me if you are interested

...Just reminding people that reservations are non-transferable and can't be sold. So be careful in how a deal is structured. Technically bluestar would still have to take delivery of this camera before he could transfer ownership.

camera sold? no.. no it's not.. the camera hasn't even been built yet...

I have no personal problem with this, but you should contact red for a refund. It's only fair to them.. they have been so generous, the least you could do is follow their rules.

i see no problem....not even for red....a sold red is a sold red....for red too.

My mistake. Changed. Very contradicting, 'no problem with this' but your telling me what I should be doing with something that is mine... the reservation is mine.

By what do you mean with the phrase, "..it's only fair to them..." ?

based on the profit made on ebay i think
its fair for everybody...the one who buys the camera and pays more...
he is actually paying the extra cash not for the red...he is paying it just
for the time he will win with not waiting 6 month. And if someone wants to pay for the time its ok.

The thing is, i buy the red for the price red wants to have.Waiting until spring/summer is no problem for me.

But for another person it would be a problem to wait...so he pays more.

If Red would introduce somekind of: pay 5-10 K more and get it in 1 month, i think some people would do.

But all of this could/will change after the number of delivered cams increase to a certain number per month ( around 700 units).

Yep.

I don't see that happening. Charging people extra to move them ahead in line is considered slimy. And there could be legal implications if they try to move new buyers ahead of reservation holders.

Exactly. I think the profit made in the recent ebay sale of DanK's camera is about the limit of what we'll see. There are undoubtedly going to be more RED cameras for sale as more of them ship. In the not too distant future, it will make sense for people to just place their order for RED and if they can't wait for a month or two for their camera to arrive, it shouldn't be tough to rent one.

I doubt selling #1376 is going to be profitable. Personally, I'd just hold onto the reservation until it's about ready to ship and then decide. With the non-transferrable warranty and a few other issues that have been touched on, I'm betting it will make more sense to take the refund plus a bit of interest from RED than it will to sell it.

I mean sure do what you want. But red has designed the non-transferability for some reason. Maybe so that they can allocated un-needed reds to people who REALLY need them... or maybe for some legal reasons.

I mean sure... do what you want. You may end up losing money, you may end up making some money... but either way its in a "grey" fashion.

You guys serious have too much time on this. I appreciate your opinions but if you read my post I have no problems getting my refund from RED. I'm a friendly person helping anyone at the very END of the line. I think these responses come from average redusers who take into assumption that anyone and everyone who sells a RED is in for profit. Even so anyone's business to gain profit is their business. What if I had two little girls who are sick and I need money for insurance, is it wrong for me to profit to support them, or even support myself, NO!

This is why I never post. In fact I kept debating of posting on RedUser just because of the fear of all the negativity. Maybe you guys should seriously rethink before your "comment" on someone's thread because whenever anyone does it is usually a negative or if not an indirect negative response.

All in all. I own the reservation number. I paid for it. It is mine. End of discussion. Moderators please close this thread because I requested it. No need for people to make a big thread out of something so personal.

Bluestar... please take care of your family. It was clear from your first post that this was not something you wanted. You have nothing from me but positive thoughts.

I hope all this turns around for you and your family.

wow dude i think you are taking my comments way too close to your heart. Red doesn't want reservations transferred and you are circumventing that... and disclosing it on their website thats all im pointing out.

I apologize. I actually don't recall anything of what Red wants from their Reserve holders. If I went and got my refund plus 10% from them they would be out 100 dollars. I'm saving them money by routing to another person in line. Whether I make none or huge profit would be of my own personal business. This isn't Red's website either. I'm sure Red is just cautious of the warranty and nothing else.

For everyone else, thank you. As you can tell I'm really upset. I've been saving for this camera since this March. I've made several sacrifices just to save for this new machine, but when personal issues get in the way you have to do what's best for you.
