Anyone here a camera operator with their own camera in Washington, D.C.?

I am heading down there on Sunday (three days from now) for a monday morning shoot. I am planning on bringing my camera and gear, but have heard horror stories about getting turned away at the border. If you live in the D.C. area and are available Monday EARLY morning for a shoot, just let me know.

The honest truth is that the job would only be there IF I can't my gear into the USA on Sunday. BUT, if this happens, I would be looking for someone with a good camera (minimum HVX200, preferably HDX900) and a small lighting kit. The job is a half-hour interview. Very simple. Short day. I would be paying your normal full day rate as well, and you'd be done by 10am.

Post if you are available to back me up. Thanks so much.

Chris

Oh yes. And if you are not a shooter, but have a camera system to rent in that area, that would be fine too. If needed, I would even pay a premium for a Sunday pickup IF I need it.

My HVX 200 is supposed to be in New York on Monday and I'm not certain of the status of my HDCam 700a - but if all else fails I have Canon XLH1 and an AJA IO HD and we could attempt either tape or hard drive. (the latter would be experimental so I'd prefer tape. And yes I'm a DOP.

Local number here is 410-707-3552.

if you go early enough in order to have them check it out you should be fine.

hopefully.

I would call Chesapeake Camera as they should have something to rent.

if you get in a real jam -- I'm in Raleigh (5 hours drive) with a HPX500 w/ Fujinon 7.8-133mm and also an HVX200... I can have someone bring it up to you on late on Sunday for you to shoot with but that would be $1500.00 for his time and mileage along with the camera.

Thanks. I will be in touch if needed. Travel out Sunday morning, and we'll see what happens. Cheers.
