The RED camera is not for sale yet, they are still developing it. A number of people have a reservation (I understand about 1300) but reservations are now closed until the actual camera comes out. RED has stated they aim for NAB 2007 release but made no promises.

Reservations were available for the camera. They are now closed. Approximately 1,350 people took out reservations.
You cannot currently purchase the camera - it is still under development. The RED team is currently aiming to ship the first camera by NAB [mid April], but that is merely a goal [not a promise].
The lenses were available under the same reservation system [the lens reservations are also closed]. The 300mm prime should ship approximately when the RED ONE camera ships. The 18-85mm zoom should ship by the end of 2007.

I thought reservations would re-open at NAB2007?

Saw Jim say this in another thread, "Regular orders will be taken at NAB. We expect to post a full price list in a couple of weeks."

From RED.com (Wow I had to push one button, the pain!)
MSRP of $17,500 for RED ONE™ camera.
Estimated to ship in Early 2007.
Or you could have typed into Google:
"Red Camera release date"
FilmDailies.com - A filmmaker’s blog » RED camera releases in April
Mike Curtis has added new info about the RED camera, including a target release date - April 2007. Here’s a summary of the timeline: ...

P.S. Written language is an amazingly powerful thing. Punctuation doubly so. In fact, punctuation is so powerful that a single mark can by its self make the difference between a statement and question.

We have approximately 1460 reservations. It will take a few months from initial shipping (around NAB) to complete these cameras. We will take firm orders at NAB for cameras after #1460. There will be posted pricing for the system in a couple of weeks on www.red.com.
Hope this helps.

Is the pricing for the camera going to change or will there be a package?

Thanks Jim,
That should be any day now. I'm certainly eager to know about pricing on all elements, particularly the view finder.
Cheers,

What does firm orders mean?

I'm not sure... But I wonder if it means they're firm as in not a reservation deposit. In other words, non-refundable deposits ???

Revisiting this thread i realized that my RED 1473 has to be the youngest serial until NAB and the new preorders!
