Perhaps the specifics of the battery tech are still in development. I have a pretty fair investment in Anton-Bauer and am wondering if the Red power system will allow me just add a plate and use the Antons?

If the Red battery and charger system is proprietary and closed then I will simply purchase extra Red batteries for my kit.

I will wait for the big announcement of details promised for March if I have to, but if the Red Team could clear this up sooner it would save me spending money I was saving up for the RedOne on re-celling my bricks and getting a Dionic 90 just to find out I can't use them with the RedOne.

Well, we know it uses the V-mount system... so AB's Gold should just be an adapter away.

Thanks Brook. I remember some folks going over the pictures closely and saying they thought they saw a V-mount but I didn't remember it being a confirmed spec. Perhaps others were wondering about this as well, hope I didn't waste bandwidth.

I am guessing that to keep the wieght down the Red will use Lithium Ion. I am an old school Ni-Cad man myself.

Professional batteries and especially chargers are not cheap. Very impressive that Red is including this piece in their package.

I thought I'd add a post to try to get this thread started again... I thought the Anton Bauer question came up again recently but couldn't find it.
It would be great if you could simply order your Red with an AB gold mount plate on it, and have the battery remaining info transmit to the camera. Apparently this does not happen with the V-Mount to AB adapter. I've got a whole bunch of Dionic 160s and 90s, plus assorted Quad and T2 chargers, so I'll be using them with my Red One. I know they've put mount holes on the plate for those of us who wish to install a gold mount, but I'm not a electronics tech and I won't risk connecting stuff the wrong way and frying #344!
I just wish that you could get the camera either way. People who have Sony batts or want the Red batts could order the V-mount, and people who want AB could order the gold mount.
Looking forward to the new daughterboard etc.
Stay safe, everyone at Red HQ.
Cheers,
Harry

Way back they said you could order with AB The RED plate is drilled for both.

TJ, are you sure? The post that I saw recently (that I searched for but couldn't find) indicated that while they had tapped holes for a gold mount, the only way to get one was to remove the V-mount and install yourself. The poster on that thread didn't want to potentially fry his Red One either...
Red Team?
Cheers,
H.

These might be handy for powering or charging when out in the sticks for extened periods.

Not really.
The 130wh canister weights 2 lb plus the fuel cell at 5.1lb. Thats 7.1lb for carrying a 130wh. It also has a fan rated at 33-55 dB during operation.
There is no doubt it's the future, but it's not really competitive yet compared to cheap li-ion cells.
