Jim,

I'd like to volunteer to help at NAB in the booth this year... I will probably already be out there for the week. I'd love to help the cause with any of my areas of expertise. I've completely setup and run NAB booths before for another Video company I used to work for...

If you are interested, let me know and who to contact.

From Anansi Moving Images' mission statement:

Anansi spun a web around the last of the four creatures and brought them to the sky kingdom.
The sky-god, seeing this last catch, called together all her nobles.
She put it before them and told them that the spider-man had done what no-one else had been able to do.
She said in a loud voice that rang in the sky, "From now and forever, my sky-god stories belong to you - We will now call these Anansi Stories".

And so, child, stories came to Earth because of the great cunning of Kwaku Anansi. Everywhere you look, he spins his web for all to see.

(Ashanti Legend)

In the spirit of the mythological trickster Bro Anansi, Anansi Moving Images employs the cunning of the guerrilla filmmaker to enchant, educate and thereby, profit.

Unfortunately due to a recent ruling of the Health and Safety Executive the Red Spider will not be allowed to be imported into the UK (or in fact anywhere in the EU) as it may be harmful to those of a delicate disposition and the bladed feet clearly don't have a safety guard.

As for this whole spider business... AAAARGH!!! I had the same idea the other day and I actually started modeling it last night as I was going to create a nice image for the desktop backgrounds forum in the OT section. Brainstorming your laser idea...how about three laser beams shooting off the three red spots, casting "R" letter at the surface where those beams are hitting at. Something like the Batman light beam signal that he send out to the air. Yeah, if those red beams can cast R's in the air during the NAB, how cool would that be? I don't know if this would break any regulations of NAB, but, hey, someone could check it out.

If you could add a compartment for dry ice, and aim the lasers through the smoke/fog. would definitely look cooler and scary-er. Would also make a Red R or logo more visible.

Thats awesome... I've done 2 legged and 8 legged robots before, there is tons of online advice on how to make it work but 4 legs still a little tricky. I worked out a couple ideas and the main thing to look at is weight distribution. You always need to have at least three legs down and then center the mass close to the centroid of the triangle created by the three contact points on the ground.

That video basically shows exactly what I was thinking about.. if you look closely you can see the baby shifting its weight away from the limb thats moving forward.

Thanks for the heads up.

Just use a much more powerful laser... Like about 350mW or so, typically the ambient moisture and other micorparticles within normal air are enough to make such a beam visible. ;) That's also powerful enough to melt crayons, pop dark-colored balloons [at the SONY booth] and permanently damage the eyese of any hecklers and naysayers that may wander by. :D

...Unfortunately, you won't find many such lasers in that power range that are red.
