Final Cut Studio 2 / FCP6 et al.

I just loaded this into my new MBP and it took up 30Gb of drive!! Is that correct? That was with all of the other options as per the complete FCS2 package.

you only need to load the software, basically disk 1, you can do without the soundtrack pro audio files and the motion video files, saves a lot of space.

Yes it is. A full install includes a lot of media for Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and Motion etc. You can rationalise it a bit. I installed the media to my RAID drive on my Mac Pro, and to a Firewire drive for my mobile edit system.

The Soundtrack pro media includes quite a few useful sound effects, but you may not need all the music loops if you don't intend to use them. Motion and DVD Studio Pro media contains a lot of stuff for the templates, which again you may not feel you need.

Only the programs itself are like 4GB or something, but the COMPLETE studio with all motion templates and samples in Soundtrack Pro is like 55 Gigabyte...

When you install.. and you get to the options you can decide to install all the extra options.. templates.. media.. examples etc.. in a diff DIR.

I installed everything but installed all the other optional extras on an external.
That way I could go through at some point an delete the ones I didn't want etc..
