Ladies and Gentlemen in the Spanish Speaking World, tomorrow we will be using our RED #0031 to shoot a Juanes Video. Who is Juanes you say...from his Wiki...
"Juanes is one of the best-selling Colombian musicians, having sold more than ten million albums and won twelve Latin Grammys"
Personally I have never heard of him, but after tomorrow I guess we will be humming his tune.
The Video will be Directed by Aggressive, a team of Directors that are at the top of their game.
The DOP will be Damian Acevedo, a well known East coast born Director with numerous Feature, Commercial and Music Video Credits.
We will be shooting with Cooke Lenses and also we will be utilizing the Innovision Optics Systems
Hopefully we will be able to take some picture that we can share with all of you, and when the video is released we will share some footage.

That's very interesting. Juanes is big in spanish spoken countries.
BTW, did you shoot the res chart? Do you have figures?

no, we just used it to test the backfocus...i had the camera calibrated today down at HQ, a shim was put in, so now the BF is perfect and it checked out on all the Cookes...
btw, saw a version of the new design for the lens mount....bitchin!

Here's a link to "Camisa Negra" (http://www.themaestrosonline.com/the_maestros/Sikander%20-%20Juanes%20Camisa%20Negra%20-%20Large.html) in a better quality QuickTime. It was directed by Rogelio Sikander at the Maestros, who actually does not look like that photo. I think they used our Varicam on that particular shoot, but I could be mistaken.
The "Archives" page on their site actually has some pretty good spanish speaking clips and high quality downloads. Expect Red footage there soon...

Maybe I'm just too easy to please, but I think 2K will be just fine for a lot of projects. Especially after seeing this frame grab.

The shoot was a lot of fun. The Directorial team had a lot of tricks up their sleeves. I will be sharing the finished spot when it is done and it may also be blown up to 4k or parts anyway, so you will able to see that former Guess model in a much more robust way.
Juanes is a very nice man and extremely talented, it is easy to see why he is so successful.
The camera performed flawlessly yet again, this is our 7th shoot day in last than 10 days. we went through about 45 CF cards today and played with all kinds of formats:
4k 2:1 23.98
2k 48fps
2k 60 fps
2k 72 fps
we did innovision lens moves, we did water on plexiglass, rain bars, waterfalls, bathtubs (don't get me started on that one...see earlier post in this thread and then use your imagination), hand held, dolly's , cranes, talent on dollys, green screen, bicycles, it was a real adventure, 18 hours of adventure, but again the camera was truly bulletproof and the directors, DOP, production company and Label are all excited to use the camera and us again...ill post some pics after i rest. happy thanksgiving.

nice. thanks for the report. glad to hear you got the red shimmed right. can anyone drive to red and get the mount fixed right away? i've worked with the cookes from dalsa, the lenses were dead nuts on and in perfect condition. it's a tie between dalsa and clairmont for best equipment experience i've had at any rental house.

So you prepped only for the Cookes and didn't have to do any adjustments for the Innovision changeover? If so, that's good news for the mount.

yeah nothing different for the innovision and the footage from that set of optics is very very nice...some close up moves on the fret of the guitar as juanes plays it...looks awesome...you'll see.

Thanks Paul. She reminded me of Kate Beckinsale in Underworld so I keyed the eyes, gained em up a bit and tinted them.
Interesting thing though. My PC has a Samsung LCD and my mac has one apple 20' and one Dell 20'. The Apple and Dell Monitors are pretty closely calibrated running together off my MacPro. The Dell is quite nice in comparison being a bit more saturated colors and more contrast in the image. Although neither are color critical when going from Mac to PC there is a big difference in the image. My settings are 2.2 gamma on both the Apple and Dell monitors. Strange.

I'm curious about the lighting on the greenscreen. It looks like it's about 1.5 stops under what I'm used to seeing. Was that an effort to give you more room for luma keying out the rain?

actually, i gave that footage a look (s curve) before i made a tiff, so it was much brighter.

I think the contrast ratio on the apple is 350:1 and the Dell is 700:1.

Any update on this Video??? We recently aired some behind the scenes footage from the video shoot but it didn't show the crew or the camera's so I didn't get to see any RED.
Can't wait to see this video, especially in my field I'll be seeing the video ALOT

Thread from the dead....
So what happened to this video? Seems like the scene you posted and pretty much EVERYTHING else you mentioned was thrown out and they went with a cheap video all shot in a recording studio doing pan and scans????
Here is the video we've been airing on our network:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydo8hONGAFI
Did something go wrong with the red footage? Very curious to know what happened, some coworkers and I have been wondering and debating about it since we saw this new version of the video come out compared to what you posted here... .
thanx!
