I am new to reduser.net, so forgive me if this has already been discussed or if I am in error.
The PL mount has a flange focal distance of 52mm, but many 35mm still lenses have shorter flange focal distances. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lens_mounts. How will these 35mm lenses work on a Red? Also, who makes adapters for these lenses to PL mount?

The mount section on RED_ONE is removeable. So the camera as standard has a P/L mount, but this can be removed and others fitted. RED will offer a mount for Canon and Nikkor lenses, 3rd party companies may also develop mounts.

Excellent! Will the Canon and Nikon mounts be available when the Red camera first ships?

Sounds good. RED will make Canon FD and Nikon F mounts for sure. If could make "simplified", "non-electronic" or pure mechanic Canon EOS that would be great. For that option Leica-R and Zeiss/Contax mount adapters are already waiting on may shelf.

I wish the swap between PL and Nikkor does not require the removal (and reinsertion) of eight loooong torx screws...
I guess itīs way past the "Poitnt of no return" in the design process by now, but if changing between the different mounts is too cumbersome (and timeconsuming) then one has to choose one mount for a production, and thereby limiting the options.
A quicklock thing would be very welcome!

It is best to settle on one mount per production, stability and flatness of field demands that mount changing be kept to a minimum. I will be using Nikkors on low and medium budget productions and renting/borrowing PLs on larger shoots. At least untill I can afford to buy a superspeed set.

Hi Stuart,
Sounds like the intermediate mount idear has died, which is a good thing IMHO.
