I posted this on my Twitter (http://twitter.com/hutson) last week, but I don't remember anyone else posting about this here on REDuser like they did on ScarletUser...
First pic is to show off to scale, how small the C-SCARLET (Cinema Scarlet AKA Interchangeable Scarlet)
http://reduser.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=14664&stc=1&d=1307823092
Second one is to show a bit more detail of the "ELECTRON" rig that Element Technica is building for the Scarlet...

WOW! That is exciting to see. I was worried they would scrap the C Scarlet program. Hadn't heard about it in a long time, but it seems alive and well :)

Yeah, I felt the same. Joseph was nice enough to tell me in advance that it is in the works! Thanks again man...that was a load off! :D

Whoa, thanks for this Joseph. This is going to be such an awesome little camera, especially with all the amazing Super 16 glass out there. Can't wait :)

Oh, and I meant to ask, Are those mini primes still priced at 900 a piece? If not I understand, but if not, are there plans to put electronics in these lenses to utilize the touch rack focus feature? These may not be public facts yet, but in case they are I would love to know!

What mount options will the camera have? What sort of lenses are most desireable for use with the C Scarlet? Thanks.

Joseph - I understand you have shot with the fixed scarlet? What did you think of the focus tracking?
There was a good bit o focus hunting on the rack focus video... I wonder if the fixed would be able to effectively follow focus to a person's face (or a touched object) without hunting or going out of focus.

To the best of my knowledge, their projected cost was $900 or $950 each. All of them being T1.5
I do not believe these are made with electronics which will allow you to do anything like "touch rack focus".

You are correct in that I have shot with the F-Scarlet (Fixed Scarlet). The 2 days we shot with it, I did not attempt to find out whether or not the focus tracking was enabled because it was unnecessary for the application which we had.
What you and I saw, not too long ago, was the Canon Mount on the EPIC "hunting for focus". Though Jarred has shown us the short video, we have reason to believe that this will get better and better over time.
Whether it's TechSpecs/Electronics/Color Science, RED has a track record of opening more and better possibilities with free upgrades upon their continued R&D work...

Wow, that camera is tiny! Thanks for sharing, Joseph. I'm really excited about both Scarlet options. Even having an Epic, there are many situations where these little ladies will be my go-to gals. I can't wait to pack them off on a documentary shoot.

I was under the impression that the "C-SCARLET" was a scrapped program. This has totally made my day.
And holy hell, those lenses are tiny. And a bargain at $950 if the price does stay there.

Did you see the news on RECON from Jim or Jarred?
Was it not the "S35 Scarlet" which had been scrapped for the EPIC-S?

That's probably what it was, honestly. What with all the talk of EPIC-S and the Fixed SCARLET I guess it just slipped through the cracks of my mind. Glad to know I was wrong! :)

I know they've priced the Fixed model at an *estimated* 6k or so, but do we have an estimate on the Cinema model? I recall with the old "3k for 3k" model it was a little under the cost of the fixed, though it wasn't for a complete package. Are we looking at 4 to 5k, body only?

It used to be 2750 for the brain only (and 950 for the primes). But since, the camera have gotten HDRx which approximately is 1000 dollars more. So my estimated guess would be 3750 as of now. But things might change.

It looked to me that the 'hunting for focus' aspect was just to set focal points. Once they were set, each time he hit the shutter, the rack was fast and precise.

HDRx is well worth the extra grand or so, from what I've seen. Coupled with some mini primes... this is getting exciting again.

Last official notice was "Mini-RED Mount (RED's proprietary mount for their "Mini Primes), B4 Mount, C-Mount"
It should take the same interchangeable lens mounts as Epic. Arri PL mount should be an option too.
I hope they have designed the mini-PL mount so that C-mount lenses can be adapted with a screw on flange.

Jim already reported that there was a production and supply issue with Scarlet fixed lens in Japan.
Maybe it's a time right now that RED turned its eyes to Germany for a solution that is
IMS (Interchangeable Mount System) from P+S Technik from München's Ottobrunn suburbs...
Why?
It can really enable Scarlet to use many sort of lenses starting with almost all types of still photo glass, then PL S16mm (also S35mm) lenses, C mount lenses,
and with adaptor even the latest ENG lenses (Canon HJ15ex8.5B KRSE-V (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/broadcast/products/broadcast_lenses/eng_lenses/hj15ex8_5b_krse_v) portable HD zoom lens with a built-in Optical Image Stabilizer...).
Then Scarlet Interchangeable could be really sort of best digital HD or sweet little super 16mm camera for many kids, enthusiasts and also professionals...
Latest blockbuster hit like a "Super 8" (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/paramount/super8/) as a movie story or an idea would look like a bad joke in that case...
Only digital acquisition is a future...
RED could sell millions of this Scarlet cameras for sure...
With a great hope that RED is listening in this case...!!!???...

A noble idea, though I think RED has made it pretty clear they're really only interested in catering to the professional market at this point. I imagine they've explored all manufacturing options possible to maintain their target price point.

Yeah, as cheap as the body is, all the accessories are going to run up the price ( at least for me and I think most) even at it's cheapest working configuration, I think it will only be affordable for pros, maybe some rich enthusiests. Man I can't wait to have my dslr take pics at a shoot instead of video like it should! Can't wait for this thing to come out!

I wonder if they'll offer a package like they do with the EPIC? At least with the LCD, REDmote, etc. Probably no SSD's or anything. Just the essentials for it to operate.

I don't think they will include the lenses but I think they would offer a base package. It would make sense!
