Thank you Jim for bringing the revolution on. Your name will appear in history of cinema with the likes of Lumiere brothers.

That's great that he has adopted the Red so quickly into his workflow. Even with the early limitations, he saw this as the format he wanted to shoot moving forward and I'm sure that has a lot to do with what he saw from the Red team and their vision. Congrats Red team!

Is it normal for a director to shoot movie after movie after movie? Or is he so taken with the RED camera that he just can't put it doun?

Jannard

I prefer to think the latter...

I remember reading an interview with Soderbergh about 5 years ago, where he said that most directors are too lazy these days --it's normal for a director to make one movie every three or four years. While he wanted to do it like they did it "in the old days", starting on a new movie once he's finished with one. To show the others how it should be done. And, I guess, because he likes to make movies.

Two questions:

1. Is he filming anamorphic again?

2. Is he still using prototypes?

I did remember Mr. G. Lucas made a history for SONY back then, and now we have a new blood/ly Mr. Steven Soderbergh to make a new chapter of Digital Films in 4K Data based asset, to me it's more than HD + Film !!!

Prepare for our " RED " Glory and we are having NO MORE Bleeding !!! We still be alive for the Indies world. A Change is goona Come.....

His speed on moving from one film to the next shows some insight into the post possibilities of the RED to ingested quickly and have a directors rough-cut shortly after the finish of filming. Once he has his cut the studio would move to get the color grading done and he is pretty much finished except for a few loose ends... Then again the actors are going to strike first of July and studios want him to shoot as much as possible before then.

I once read a quote from Soderbergh that once he's done with a movie, he forgets about it and doesn't dwell on it. The man likes to move on.

Suddenly, it seems terrible that the new Star Wars was only shot on 1080p.

I'm not sure if Steven will shoot "The Informant" anamorphic or not... but he will be shooting on new RED ONEs (his order is in). He parked his two beta prototype cameras after "Guerrilla" and shot "The Argentine" on two pre-production RED ONEs. These four cameras are now priceless museum pieces (at least in my mind). They are the 1st cameras to shoot features "all RED".

when somebody in a office job gets paid for doing nothing then and only then do I think anybody in the entertainment industry should get paid residuals.

There are plenty of people working office jobs that get paid for doing nothing. Have you never been in a government agency?

If you were stuck on a desert island, would you rather be stuck with the Star Wars prequels or Matrix sequels?

Wow, it's like you can see into my soul and know my darkest fears.

Barring smartass responses like "pistol with one bullet," in a turn of events that surprises even me, I think I would have to say the Matrix sequels. At least they have some style to make up for their lack of sense or substance.

Also, they were rushed out in like three years, whereas Lucas had 30 so there's really just no excuse at all.

Star Wars. Definitely Star Wars. The pretense of The Matrix sequels would drive me to lunacy.
