With links to where I can buy each piece of kit.
I find it a bit hard without actually having one.
I'll need the pro i/o for a couple of the kits whenever it shows up, but where do I get a TC sync cable for starters? :-)
Cheers!

Gunleik: I'd have a very good look at Wooden Camera's new sliding top plate with removable top mounts.
Also seems to me (if only working with RED) the RED DSMC (sliding) Quick Release system is a must. No more sliding down a dovetail and getting snagged while trying to remove the camera
*i live Innocineama's bottom plate with full size XLR out
*and a bunch of those nice rail components with a bund of mixed Rosette mounts....to configure any style.
*I've also got the sliding top handle with swatt rail---in fact liked it so much i bought another swatt rail and fixed handle.
For now i have VF top plate, and it's been great, but time to move on...it does not allow enough space---hence sliding (longer) cheese plate
I've also mounted my EVF--for time being to my old RED LCD arm. I think wooden camera is also coming out with a nice EVF mount. But with the Rosette components you can do about anything.
....yeah, not much help there, but i also think it's tough to make a decision until more pieces are out there. But i held off on the RED QR system, now i've got to have it...ordered it last week after having problems the prior week sliding my camera on/off arri dovetail with battery mounted to lower rails. Said screw this....and just ordered RED's.....the video they have on the store sold me.

Asking "How do I build the perfect EPIC?" is a lot like asking "How do i build the perfect lego spaceship?" there is no right or wrong answer. :D
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your spaceship... :)

As a big lego afficianado myself (Lego X-Wing and AT-AT sit next to me as I type) I love this analogy :)

That cable is only for the RED ONE!

They have a sync cable for the EPIC, it may not be in the store. But talk to your Bomb Squad person. Most people I know with an EPIC M have bought the sync cable. Kinda like the power adapter cable so you can hook up to RED One power sources, everyone with an Epic has that -- had to with no REDVOLT batteries. I don't think the cable is actually listed in the store.

very good post, i'm sure lot of new Epic Owner like me are looking for the best Epic package.
i have it since couple of days and i'm sure about something, i'll have 2 different system. A light package for when i use it alone and another bigger one for a big team.
For my alone pack I'll use some little 15" carbon roads on the top, no follow-focus ... and for the big one, 19" rods on the botom
The View Factor (http://www.viewfactor.net/index.php/products/epic-acc.html) top plate designed by Brook Willard (http://redmodz.com/brook-willard-side-arms-for-red-epic/) is a good top system
I also like the system from the swiss guys actionproducts (http://actionproducts.ch/shop/product_info.php?products_id=146&osCsid=ca37f02b93912b8ccfdc962c0c4a4cfd)
did you see that ?

Thanks so far!
The TC cable is great.
here are some more precise questions...
What 2nd LCD when operating with an AC in small compartments from the EVF.
I have been thinking of the Small HD
How do you find good ways to quickly re-locate the LCD for different uses. Top isn't allways perfect...
Sides for handheld and high sticjs.
Without pulling out the screwdriver...
What is the current best flexible and available EVF mount, which is not an isreaeli arm?
So, so far:
Brooks top-plate
REDs Quick-release system
Wooden cameras audio-breakout
TC cable from RED
Unresolved:
Top and side-handles
Mounting solutions for EVF and LCD
Good balancing opions
Shoulder mount. (We were not very happy with the Epic on the Mantis. Weight-center came far too high...)
@ Joseph...
Yes, but no.
I can predict what will be needed in base system for feature/drama-work, and it will be a bit more than a square head.
That is not to be dismissive of core packages. I can use them and love them. But for the kind of functionality demanded in the kind of productions I work in, that will not make happy DPs and ACs
I need to set up the Epic to have the same out-of-the-box operational experiemce as ... other ... camera has :-)
Different parameters... No dissmissal! :-)
R1 suffered a lot over complaints from ACs and DPs over its operatability.
My job is - in this context - to see to that that is not repeated when the Epic is set to work.
Traditionalists - ok...
But they shoot a lot of movies, commercials and TV-series... :-)
LOL
I on the other hand can take an Epic body out on its own, but that's another story!

Yup... And as I am thinking about that comparison... a side-mountable redmote mount/holder, would make the ACs happy methinks...
