I have trouble importing a XML...

My workflow:

We transcoded RED footage into FCP 7 via Log & Transfer... The reel number assigned is the RDM folder name; so maybe A011_1227EF.RDM becomes the REEL NUMBER for all clips from that folder... Seems fine & Logical to me.

We then export the XML from FCP...

Next when we Load it in Resolve, and link it to the folder where all my RED footage is, it fails to connect the timeline to the clips.

All clips are imported into the root folder but they don't connect to the clips on the timeline... I noticed that in the Media Pool the REEL # of every clip is the name of the clip but in the XML list the REEL # is the name of the RDM folder... & hence the conflict.

I tried all combination in Assist using Folder path, embedded in source clip, media pool folder, et al... but in vain.

What am i doing wrong?

Please help & guide.

Thank you!

Take the XML and use Run Conform on FCP XML File... in Clipfinder. Then load the resulting XML in DaVinci Resolve.

Thanks Jörgen... Tried that, but no luck...

But i got the solution:

In Resolve, in the Project Tab... In Timeline Conform Options, under Use Timecode,
select Assist using reel numbers from the:
Source clip file pathname
& in Pattern
change the default from */%R/%D
to
*/%R/%D/%D

Basically this understands that the Reel # is stored two levels up from the clip...
So the R3D file being the clip is in a RDC folder (1st level) & then in a RDM folder (2nd level)
