Hi, future system requirements time.
What is the pc performance needed to decode Red ray 4k 25fps, and to encode to it?
Thanks.

I don't think this has been announced, but as I understand it it is the Red Ray Pro box that does the actual encoding.

It would be good if they could give an idea for us, so we could get our computer systems ready. I would like to use Redray for transcoding during pvr too. There are a number of uses for a codec like this. Archiving certain material and media centre functions are just two of them. Recording home security camera feeds are another.

What makes you say that?
All ths posts I've seen suggest it's a playback device.

It's been said a few times here.
so Redray will still be needed as a proprietary device for encode/decode ?
The RED RAY player and the RED distribution codec work hand-in-hand to deliver 4K resolution information, yes.
