Boris FX

I'm wondering if anybody would know if Boris FX (RED) done in Avid Media Composer (with down rezzed material) would carry over to DS Nitris? And then over to a 4k editor (atleast the effect in general, I know it would have to be applied to the full res. material. after transferring)? Otherwise, I might as well just wait and do effects (rotoscoping, ect.) in the full res. stage, right?

Why the stop at DS if going to another 4K editor? Conform? I would start backwards and see if the 4K editor supports Boris, then back track from there. DS only supports AVX v.1 at this time so look at the version of Boris you are using to ensure a pathway.

I'd be inclined to leave more complex effects work for online anyway. You can create place holders in offline, or representative effects, but chances are they have to be rebuilt more or less from the ground up in online anyway. Therefor may as well work with whatever tools are best in your 4K application, and not worry too much about carrying the effects from the offline.
