View Full Version : Epic-X in Japan

It was roughly three and a half years ago that Visceral Psyche pioneered the Red One camera here in beautiful Japan. Now that pioneering spirit is reborn in the shape of the new Red Epic-X camera - a 5K, 120fps, 18+ stop cinematic weapon the size of a Hasselblad! Want higher framerates? How about 300fps at 2K? It's all possible!

A new chapter begins today. From here on in, if you can imagine it, I can shoot it for you. No more limits.

Stay tuned for more info on demonstration days, test shoots and special offers. It's going to be an awesome ride!

Once more unto the breech....

Hopefully the Epic-X won't be far behind!

Thanks Carlos!

I took it out tonight with the venerable Red 18-50 T3 zoom lens and threw it into some VERY low light situations! Pretty crazy what I'm able to pull....

Note this is a GRADED image. I wanted to make it feel dirty and gritty, to give it that grindhouse film look. I've added noise here for effect.

The little bar we were in was DARK! You're looking at an ISO3200 image shot on a T3 lens at 1/50th shutter 23.976fps. If I'd had my Canon EF mount for the camera I could have used my Canon prime lenses, but no matter.

Can't wait to play tomorrow in the daylight to see what I can get from HDR mode.

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

A historic photo. Family portrait - Red One #378 (first Red in Japan, EVER) and Epic-X #135 (first Epic-X in Japan). Proud and humbled to have been the pioneer and father of both! :D

Got the Side Handle today....

http://www.visceralpsyche.com/misc/web_images/P1030066a_33.jpg

I'm now fully mobile with 6 RedVolts and 3 chargers! No more RedBricks and rails needed to go without AC power (although it's still an option if you want the longer battery life).

5K cinema in the palm of your hand!

Will be at InterBEE this week showing it off to everyone and loitering around the Canon booth.... ;)

Oh and for those wondering, the hand strap is from PixGear and cost about US$18. Fits perfectly and is very strong and solid.

Cheers from thee lion's den,

Paul :)

Have updated the camera with firmware build 2.0.2 alpha, which enables PLAYBACK in camera :) No more need for external recorders for playback.

My website is also updated with the latest equipment list, including the side handle, SYNC cable, dovetail for non-Arri tripods and more.

Cheers from Tokyo!

Paul :)
