‘Hover over’ corrector node grading status display to reveal list of changes within the node. For me this is HUGE! No more guessing, what was done in the node.
Would really love to see an ability to name the nodes.
Also, I wish it would be possible to copy individual changes from the "hover" status to another node. May be later?
And, please, LOG grading:-)
All in all, very impressive update.
Thank you Blackmagic.

Wait ... they updated Resolve Lite too?

Damn, that's generous.

Resolve Lite is my standard DIT tool, replacing RCX and RCX Pro.

Besides all the actual Resolve coolness ... Resolve Lite handles whatever format I throw at it. So, my workflow can stay the same on XDCAM, DVCPRO, RED, Alexa, and DSLR shoots.

Simply have to love that.

This means partial support for R3D in FCPX?
This will works only for shorter clips (that aren't bigger than 2gb so aren't trimmed) and the R3D has the same filename of the proxy, will not work in any case or will it works every time? =)
A workaround could be rewrap the 2 or more R3D of a single clip in a unique MOV file from RCX?

Waiting for your suggestion ;)

If this works i'm waiting only OMF export and FCPX will be my working tool ;)

Thanks guys, I'll download 8.1 when I'll back in Rome ;)

Jake,

I agree 99% with your suggestions... To get to 100%, can you expand on LOG grading? With R3D going RedColor2 and RedLogFilm is equivalent to a Cineon, as Graeme has stated before. Or, are you talking about the ability to do Log on any other type of footage? Just curious... or confused as ussualy I am.

Thanks BM...!!!

As you can see there is a smily face next to Log grading request:-)
Number of people were asking about it from very beginning, so by now it's more a joking type of request. I know sooner or later BM will get to it.
Log grading is a type of grading, that instead of traditional telecine or video type of controls of pedestal, gamma and gain or low, mids and high, grading is done more in a film color timing style. Log grading control works on the whole picture instead of just the three luminance areas, just like the color wheel. Just to be clear, it has nothing to do with the type of material. It works equally well on video or Log material. Baselight calls this control Film Grading, Nucoda calls it Brightness and Contrast and Lustre calls it Log Grade. All three are the same. I prefer Log grade to the telecine type, as, personally, I can get to the desired result much faster. It is difficult to describe it, if you never tried it, but once you experience it, you can't imagine how it is possible to work any other way. BTW, it's not one or the other. All mentioned systems allows both types of grades at the same time.

Jake,

I got it now... different terminology is usually used to describe a process, which, as you said, it is conceptual unless you have enjoy it's' benefits.

Thanks for the comprehensive explanation!

Alexander,

I was planning on doing the same and I have been thrilled by Resolves performance but it does not pass through the audio so I find it impractical for this purpose. It would seem a major bummer so how are you dealing with audio?

I came across a nice workaround to get from FCP X to FCP 7 using Resolve 8.1, the only thing is it doesn't support audio but you can export audio using roles introduced in newly released FCP X 10.0.1 update and import into FCP 7.

Here is the link with video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNRnH9zsP6g

Does anyone know will this work with Resolve 8.1 Lite?

The XML round trip functionality is the same with Resolve Lite.

Thanks Peter.

iMac 27" + Ultra Studio 3D + DaVinci 8.1 sounds like a good entry level solution.

Great update but I still have a problem, sometimes after some nodes the sliders of my resolve don't work, they freeze, for example in the 3 wheels tab, the wheels work but hue, saturation and luma mix freeze, the only solution is to restart the software. It did the same thing also with resolve 8.0.1
I have a mac pro 2x 2.66 Quad core with 24 GB of ram, nvidia gt 120, invidia gtx 285 and a red rocket. The version 7 of Resolve worked fine.
