View Full Version : IO Module Function Request

Hi Red Team...
Not sure if this has been a request already.
I'm sure the Pro IO module is almost done, and perhaps this request cannot be honored due to technical limitations or as a result of finished hardware.
But...
Could you add format options to the HD-SDI outputs, for example, to do 23.98 Psf, or add a pulldown and make 720 59.94?
There are some playback systems, devices, and monitor functions that are rendered useless by 1080p.
I know I could velcro on some AJA crossconverter box, but wouldn't that destroy a lot of the slickness of the DSMC concept?
If at all possible!
Cheers,
Harry

My feeling - and yes its just a feeling - is that Red is way ahead of us on this and the Pro I/O module will include a veritable kitchen sync of all I/O needs including down converter, PsF and "off" framerate monitoring not too mention multiple red specific connectors such as EVF and LCD. Again this is a guess but based on how much Red has listened over the last few years to its users as demonstrated by the design of the Epic and the new products we have seen I think we will all be blown away all over again.

If the pro I/O could have wireless too it would be the perfect module. :/

I remember seeing a picture of a wireless H264 module at the RED event for the Epic in Tokyo, i have no idea if this module is still on the road map

I think it was pulled from the map...

PsF and pulldown insert should be possible in my simple mind, usual video processing nowadays. Would guess the appropriate chip offers that as option, once it is programmed to do so.
More a question of firmware...me thinks.

No response from the Red Team? I came up today again on a job... no waveform on the 1710 in 1080p...
Cheers,
Harry

Wait for upcoming firmware...Should be an improvement for output signal...in the meantime, if you guys can't wait, take a look at Decimator product's, MD-DUCC...
