Hi Mark,
this thread just to say "thank you" one more time.
I was in a real trouble yesterday (a camera stolen at the Hotel, just before a production start), and Mark was really kind and helpful with me, trying to do something for adjust the situation.
Never met him before. Just one (very well known) nickname on the Reduser's pages.
In a second, that nickname it has become... a friend (may I say this?), for sure, an helping hand.
If you think that there are more than 3.500 miles of sea in between... It's really an incredible thing. The real magic of this community.
So, again, thanks. Just this.
Corrado.
Btw,
please note that somewhere in NYC there are a Panasonic AJ-HDX900, serial number K6THB0152R, a Lens Canon 12X serial 06312A wrapped in a Kata MCC-2A bag.
Those things are mine.
Stolen yesterday. (:ranting2:)

i guess you are very happy your reds were delayed now...
rule of thumb for your red camera, never take them out of your sight. bring them on the plane, in the car, in the train, take them in the store, to the shore, never leave them on the other side of the door. for sure. get a pelican 1510 and keep it with you always...
sorry to hear of your loss, my guess is it has already been sold for a couple hundred bucks.

Yep, you're right...
Just to share some information:
Was a three-people "commando" (after the fact we've seen the security tapes of the hotel). Two of them (elegant dressed) asking some information (smiling an cheering) to the guy that was attending the materials. The third one bring the Kata in a second (he put his coat on the bag, just before walking away). All the actions during 15/20" max.
This is the first time for me (in more than 20 years of experience).
And it's really frustrating, believe me.
Keep your eyes open, guys, always. (Easy to say, now...).

Hi Mark,

Elcurado - no thanks needed. That is the cool thing about a web forum like this - it's becomes a community. Redusers have a way to quickly help each other all over the world. I am glad your team could secure another camera and get on the boat in time for the shoot. Having equipment stolen is really a drag.

Sorry to hear about your stuff getting stolen. I hope you have insurance to cover the loss.
I decided to get the Tamrac 5258 (http://www.tamrac.com/5258.htm) backpack that Gibby has,, instead of a Pelican case. I'm hoping this will make it easier to always keep my RED with me.

Could you post the security clip? Perhaps that could help identify them?

They don't give us the clip.
I think they give a copy of the tape to the NYC Police.
Btw, we are currently waiting for an insurance refund (hoping that the company will accept all the conditions...).
Thanks a lot, anyway.

Sorry about the theft. I've been ripped off in NYC before as well. I lost a BVW35 deck, stolen out of my truck while I was in CBS (many years ago).
I have some friends in ENG/EFP in NYC. One of them uses handcuffs to secure his camera everywhere he goes. If he needs to put it down, he handcuffs it to something. Another friend uses a Kryptonite bike lock. Anytime I work in NYC I don't ever leave the camera unattended, either always carrying it or having one of my crew carry it.
I love NYC, but there are teams of crooks looking for exactly what you have. And they are good. I've been told this stuff ends up in South America. I hope your insurance covers it. Good luck.

Hi Emanuel, thanks!
Do you remember some months ago that we was in a similar trouble with a tripod lost by the flight company in Lisbon?
Funny things: this time we carried a double backup for the tripod, just to prevent some lost baggages during the flights...
Yesterday, all the tripods are come safe to destination.
Seems that this year is not so good for me.
It's ok, we are almost at the end... :help:
Ciao,
Corrado.

Ciao,

I am very confident that next year, Elcurado, will be one of the best years in your life.
Remember, all that really matters, in the end, is how many time you made someone else smile or laugh.
Please let me know when you are in NYC and we shall drink together. I'll make you laugh plenty.
