To the RED Team:
I wanted to wish you all the best during the holidays.
I also encourage you (the RED team) all to take some time off, and forget about the additional week that it may cause all us reservation holders to wait for our cameras.
Like many, this ride has been a roller coaster for me. Up and down. Waiting for my REDs, getting frustrated sometimes by the delays.
But shit man, when I see posts coming from Jim at 4am, still working, it puts it into perspective. You guys have been working so hard for so long, you deserve some time away from it. Go spend it with those you love, re-charge your batteries (human batteries that is, not RED bricks) and come back and get at it. I don't think any one of the reservation holders who thinks about it would expect you to work through the holidays just to meet the latest release target.
This whole thing has evolved, and become a community thanks to your open-ness during your remarkable development. About a year ago, I came across this little site called reduser.net, and now it seems like I can't go a day (or a few hours for that matter) without coming on here and checking things out. It is partly due to the wealth of knowledge that can be gained here, but I think it is more to do with the community that also spends time here.
There is an amazing feeling of comraderie here. No competition. Just a bunch of people helping each other out. I have only actually met a FEW of you in person, but feel like I know many, just through their posts.
So I wish you all a happy holiday, and all the best in the new (RED) year. 2008 is going to be INSANE! Imagine how many REDs will be out playing in the wild a year from now. Imagine sitting down in the theatre sometime in 2008 (hopefully), digging into your popcorn and watching Soderbergh's (and others') movies that were shot on RED, knowing what we all know about how it was born.
You people are incredible, and I feel privileged to be a part of this community.
