This week in Hollywood, SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) are holding their annual symposium and conference ... the theme of today's symposium was single large sensor cameras and the evolution of digital acquisition ... plenty of discussion on the relative merits of EPIC, Alexa and the F65.

We have a booth in the Exhibition Hall (#116) that we're sharing with Blackmagic Design ... we'll be demoing the latest version of DaVinci Resolve 8.1 and doing a technology preview with them and Avid on file-based workflows between Media Composer and Resolve. Peter and Rohit will be around the booth (in between attending seminars) as well as Mark and their new guy Kendall .... if you want to stop by and catch up on the latest developments in Resolve and Avid workflow, make sure to visit us at booth #116.

Hope to see some of you this week.

Cheers,
Neil

Unfortunately, we can't show any of the Media Composer stuff just yet .... at the SMPTE event we were doing a 'technology preview' of the SR Codec workflow between MC and Resolve ... you can read the official news release on our website if you want to know more.

Avid will officially announce Media Composer 6 next Wednesday .... November 3rd is shaping up to be an interesting day for Filmmakers and post-houses alike .... 3K Scarlet .... 4K Canon .... MC 6 ... all announced on the same day!

The one thing I will say is that the combination of MC 6 and DaVinci Resolve 8.1 is a killer combination ... it's going to be just as important for Filmmakers as all the camera developments.
