I've been watching this Scarlet forum constantly for the past month and the most I've seen was just over 300 users. Usually closer to two hundred.
There are now seven hundred people in the scarlet section and we're 15+ hours out still...

This is gonna be huge. Like we didn't know it.

NOW *Presuming it meets your budget and within reason your expectations....

WIll you be buying NOV 3

No ifs buts or maybes, just a straight out head count.

(Guys - I know we're excited - BUT THE THIS THREAD IS SPECIFIC - its just if your buying a scarlet TOMORROW - if your price point and needs are met)

I will depending on the specs. I had set my mind on the Epic X but if it provides the features I think are enough to push forward my ambition to revolutionize local film production- which the Epic X does- then I'll go Scarlet and invest the rest on the supposed Epic X budget in key support and production gear.

Specs have already met my expectations, and I can't see it taking a step back. So, like you said, presuming it meets my budget... aawww shiet yes. It's been such a hard wait.

I buy one! Specs was amazing last time so no way they can mess this up!

Also please don't make dubble posts to this thread would be a good suggestion.

Hi Josef

Is it 10% GST + No Duty + Freight via Fedex, to get the camera to Australia?

Milan Nikolic

Given that there is no significant price rise - I am into ordering Scarlet fixed as soon as it is possible!

If the price is right (within allocated budget) I'll order one without hesitation. I have no worries about specs.

The good thing about having spent/wasted 3½ years on this forum is that I can wait a month more before making my decision. Unless the specs and prices fits my budget and expectations perfectly, I might wait to pull the trigger. It would also please me if I could watch a video of what the camera is capable of before spenting money on it. I'm sure it's gonna be great - but you don't buy a car without trying it either. Well this came out way too negative, which wasn't intended.

I have 8500 $. If it fits, great, but I don´t think so...It will be well above 10k, mark my words!

I'm in! Waiting on this for a long time. It is just a matter of getting one or two, but with the "pro" announcement I am guessing one will be within my budget.

I will buy at least one. If the price is right, two. If it's really right... three - 2 fixed (for 3D) and an interchangeable.

Lliam Worthington
11-03-2011, 06:38 AM
Jesper your time is wrong. It's 6:40am in Los Angeles right now.
Which means - just over 11 hours left till announcement.

Nearly 900 users on Scarlet section with 11+ hours to go.

It's gonna get cray.

If it's a fixed Scarlet that meets the previously released specs, it's 100% certainty that I'm buying unless the price is just way higher than I expect. If it's an interchangeable Scarlet, then I'm still buying if I can afford it and a lens package.

1250 in the Scarlet thread and counting... I'm going to bed now for a few hours. Going to be hard to sleep.
SCARED what this lace will look like when I get back.

It depends mostly on the cost. Since our company is probably going to continue to rent film cameras from Panaflex or higher end digital cinema technology (like the Epic or Alexa) for our larger productions it only makes sense to invest in a camera for smaller projects up to a certain cost. If we cannot justify the cost of the camera plus the necessary accessories then we'll probably just stick with our 5D Mark II and possibly invest in some more glass. We're talking about a camera that is more than likely going to be used exclusively for web content and possibly some B-camera footage down the road, not something that will be a production workhorse on our stuff that's intended for festivals or other more conventional channels of distribution.

Calling it a "toy" would be a stretch, but I think you understand what I'm saying.

I'm in as well... just as long as the specs are right and the price is under 10k.

If a basic package (brain, mount, display, SSD module, battery) with two 64GB SSD's doesn't cost more than 15K, I'll be ready to place an order (and I hope it's a 2/3" sensor camera).

I know RED usually takes a 10% deposit, then contacts you to collect the balance. Will this be the case for Scarlet? My company card has a $2K per day limit so I am a little worried this might put me out.

Really depends on price. Like previously stated, the specs were amazing before, so they can only get better.

I can't wait for tonight!

Specs were great at 3k for 3k. Now IDK. Specs have certainly been improved, but at double or triple or even quadruple the initial price? We'll have to see.

Today was supposed to be my big day... I have been waiting a long time for this and while I have waited I have been refining my script, talking to many good people, making contacts and collecting all manner of props etc etc, I feel I have used my time wisely. However as we all know here at REDUSER life changes, and the money I had set aside to buy my dream camera is now "reserved" for my current health issues. Health first I know, but it doesn't make the fact easier that today will be filled bitter sweet.

I am thrilled and excited for those of you that will charge your credit card today with Scarlet purchases. I wish I could be in the same position, BUT it will be a great day for RED, REDUSER, the industry and those individuals on here that have been faithful to RED and waiting since the concept for the delivery of such a camera. A Great day for all!

So my Script will be put back on the shelf (for now) and I will rush home from the clinic today to join in all the excitement and joy, I will be rooting for all of you.....then i will make a call to my bank manager lol....I wish.

This is your day RED and REDUSER enjoy it, celebrate it and be thankful for all we have ;)

I´m waiting the announcement...more or less that Canon C300? In my view the C300 is very expensive...1080, 422, 10 bits, only 720p at 60fps...16000$!!!¿?¿?.WTF

Man the joys of living in Australia my internet connection speed is good but by the time it gets to US nothing! Anyway from what gleamed from Tonaci Trans Twitter Blog ( HUGE THANK U TONACI!!!!) looks like the camera I was expecting & hoping for . So I will be ordering but given the crap internets speed we suffering under the pacific ocean I'm not sure its going to do me any good. So what's the deal with ordering, from memory you can order after about an hour, online?

Which is about Now..right?

I'm a digital artist with a day job and a family that comes first. There are tens of thousands of people who enjoy my art at far less than 1080p. I have been making great plans over 2 years for Scarlet, but it is way out of reach. Putting it out of my mind now and will try to forget it, but the disappointment will linger. All the best to Red and those of you who can afford it. I'll take another look when 10% of people have 4K displays and there is the internet bandwidth and distribution media and players so enough people can appreciate it.
