(Forgive me if this has been covered in other posts, but I haven't found any mention)

Will there be any RED parties or events at NAB this year? Anything for us in the REDCORE? I am finalizing my travel dates and would like to know.

Of course the most important thing is getting the product done right, so I'm not expecting any parties and so forth, but if there are any, I don't want to miss!

Thanks,

Verko

We know that Monday is going to be the big day. As for parties, I don't believe anything is official yet.

Based on 2006 Red was ready to rock from the get go. But given how much that have to cover on Camera Operations and Workflow (remember they still have to educate the masses just not the converted) they may run set times for show and tells. This works well as it allows you to check out other exhibits yet get back for a particular presentation say "REDCINE Workflow @ 1030"

Given the amount of interest in the camera I doubt the personal 1 on 1 Q&A is going to work that well in 2007. It was appreciated in 2006 but then they didn't have too much to reveal. Looks like they're taking everything to a different level in 2007.

I've never been to NAB. I got something in the mail from them, but it seems like the floor passes alone are like $600+... seems high for someone like me who just wants to walk around and check out new HD stuff.

Tom you can get in for free, I donīt remember how on the fly, but you need a vendor code from an exhibitor - and they are pretty easy to get.

Kelly from RED posted a code not too long ago. Here's the message that I saved:

Hi Everyone,

I hope to see you all at NAB this year! If you register before April 12, you can use the
code below and get in for free. Here's how:

1. Go to www.nabshow.com/VIP
2. Enter Profile Information
3. Select Exhibits Only Information
4. Enter VIP Passcode: KB1393

Thanks Red Users! Have a wonderful week!

Kelly

I think there are gonna be enough redusers to warrant a jam somewhere. Wish we could have a tailgate party in the parking lot of the convention center. :gun:

Yes. Jam=Good!

About registering for NAB, I usually get some distributor or manufacturer to give me a registration code to get in free. This year, Red graciously posted a code on this forum (see previous post in this thread), which I was all too happy to take advantage of. It covers the exhibits only. If you want to go to the various forums, etc., then the dollars can rack up. I usually just go to the exhibits; the other stuff I can gather by reading various sources.

Quark's Bar at the Star Trek Hilton has started to become a hot spot during NAB. I'm sure it has to do with the Sci-Fi Film connection for NAB show goers...

In recent years, founding members, employees, and friends of creative companies like Newtek, GlobalStreams (formerly Play, Inc.), Electric Image, Serious Magic (Adobe), Luxology, etc. have been known to stop in - usually Wednesday night if memory serves...

Just don't let Jarred setup the party. I went to his last year, and he got busted by the hotel. :) I came the second day and hung out Mikko in the hallway before we found out there was no party on the 2nd day.

Tom: the instructions are just above your post, with the code. Just sign up and the NAB website will ask if you have a VIP code, enter the code posted above and make sure you select the exhibition only passes (which without a VIP code would be a lot cheaper than the ~$600 you posted).

Count me in for a beer where ever it's happening. I am trying to organise something here:

On Tuesday evening at 6:30 for anyone on this forum that's into the RED camera.

All the best, Phil

One thing is for sure, wherever red unites Evin Grant will not have to pay for his drinks...

Well I'll second that one. I think he's done us all a great service. Especially lens 'no hopers' like me. Now I can go and purchase one of these on ebay knowing that somehow - if I fiddle long enough - I'll be able to get a 'usable shot' out of my RED camera without handing over vast 'wads' of cash. Brilliant!!! Just what the doctor ordered.

All the best, Phil
