At the web site of Chimney Pot (one of Swedens leading post houses) can you download a quite extensive RED/film shoot out test, with split screens, ASA-tests, RAW-files etc. Please enjoy - find the address below!

Thanks for posting these great tests.
Do you know what film stock was used for the side by side comparisons?

Another important question. You didn't label whether or not the footage was RED or FILM in the comparison test. How do we know? I'm hoping the first set is the RED as well as the image on the LEFT ?
Please confirm and thank you

In the split it's clearly Film on the left side, Red on the right.

Seems they are hit badly by the Flange focus problem, in most of the footage the actual point of focus is behind the subject. Otherwise very informative.

in the dvd film tends to be on the left, as I can see some dust hits every now and then.

It's too bad that some of the Red shots are soft because of this.

You know, as hard as look at the "leaf throwing 48 fps" clip, I can't see any noise at all in the blue channel, even after considerable sharpening. Sample jpeg (color & contrast & sharpened & downscaled) is from frame 162 of the R3D file. ftp://ftp.chimney.se/RAW/leave%20throw%2048fps%202k%20park (user:redcam pass:red)
I'd agree the background looks in better focus than the foreground subject.

I don't know, actually I'm don't know a lot about the test. I know though, thru the DP, they had the flange back problem on the tested Red.

Thanks for hosting the comparison which has some very useful insights into RED vs Film.
However in my view you should to draw attention on your website that there are serious focus issues with the RED footage and so comparison of resolution should be avoided.
Otherwise a casual observer will conclude that RED is much softer than film.
As I've said from my first post, for many RED users focus will be an issue and all RED users would benefit from 1:1 monitoring.
But absence of 1:1 monitoring does not excuse a top notch post house for making public this partially misleading presentation.
