Might be wrong, but I think those are ravens. Rounder head, thicker bill etc.
Anyhow nice shot.

Very nice footage! This camera should be wonderful for nature docs. Can't wait to see the next version of "Planet Earth" shot in 4K!

This stuff is great!
You were shooting through a window right?
Is that what is causing the "doubling" effect on some of the out of focus details?
p.s. when are you going to swing by Seattle and show off that pretty camera of yours? I know there is a healthy contingent of folks here with orders in.
cheers!

Great shot again.
Let's now try to make a METAPHOR ANALYSIS of this "historical" shot titled "Lunch with your buddies...".
How would you interpret this short movie?
Who is there the American bald eagle?
The American bald eagle could portray RED ONE camera.
Who portray the victim (a young wild goat or a young deer?)?
Who is the victim?
Maybe HD cameras like a Sony Cinealta F..., Panasonic..., Thompson Viper, Genesis..., Arri D20...etc...
Who portray the ravens?
Who are the ravens?
Who are the buddies?

the victim is FILM, the ravens are the other cameras...that are biting at the scraps.

Thanks,
a good idea and could be that as you said.
Just hope your competitor isn't one of these...

This shots are nothing short of fantastic and I'm not talking about the quality which is also good, but I can not believe that you were so lucky to capture such a moment with this majesty.
This reminds me of growing up in the in the island of Sardegna (Italy) were I would watch the wild life out of my window and at times climb very large threes to save the birds from been burned alive by wild fires (very common in Sardegna).
Love and respect animals and just wish more people respected them as well.
Again Jim, great shot, I bookmark this clip to share with every one at home.

No so sure because on a right side there is a slight vignetting/darkening caused maybe from the old mount.
Just make a smallest size of the movie you can and you would see it.

But who cares.
Probably Jim left his old cam to play in the holiday house.

Amazing image limpidity.
Jim, has the footage been color corrected ?
I like an image like this where shadows are not crushed too much.

The vignetting is caused by the window frame...

Anyone notice the buck in the background at 21 seconds?

Jim,
What other footage do you have of the eagles? Do you have the mating? I have a potential buyer of the footage. Was just talking with someone today who happens to be doing a doc on eagles and when I mentioned the footage he asked what was available in terms of footage. Any interest?

Jim,
Here is the project
http://www.johnrubin.com/eagle.html
Based on the discussion I had with the producer today, he seemed very interested in what you were shooting and indicated they would love to incorporate some of your beautiiful 4K footage. When you get back from the trip, I can get you guys in touch so you can discuss details.

Is the 24 FPS capture rate causing some "stuttering" due to the quick motion of the subjects in this clip?
Thanks for posting this fascinating feast...................

This clip was shot at 1/192 shutter, which explains the slight stutter. Don't ask me why I forgot to change that setting...

this looks great!
but mr. jannard, you're still not telling us the big detail: is this shot with new RED?
If i open the 2K movie in Shake the blue channel looks so good, i see only H264 artifacts, no redcode patterns.
May be just 4K to 2K downscaling, may be my faithful expectation, but, dunno, somethin' in the image looks better than usual ...
:umm: :calm:
Wow awesome imagery.
Ive said this before and I'll say it again, if you want beautiful imagery, all you have to do is shoot beautiful things. Certain things make our eyes and minds dazzle with wonder when you see them in real life. Capturing them on camera should make the image quite compelling on the same level.
Having just seen Beowulf 3d, the 3D applications that this camera is yet to reveal will let us experience this beauty at an unprecedented level. Like a drug induced trip in every film piece, sans substance.

I saw these vultures at Iguacu falls in Brazil. I used my Canon GL2. The 20x lens came in handy. I wish Red made a camera with a built in 20x lens, hint, hint, Red pocket cam. :)

I'll cheers to that! 1080P is enough to make anyone go weak in the knee's (especially the when the tiger was chasing the goat DOWN the mountain? Spectacular!) but 4K? words would do no justice...
