Since a new release has just arrived, this might be a good time to comment on Resolve database backups. I would highly recommend you backup your current Resolve database before updating Resolve software.
We sometimes change the database structure on new releases, and when that happens, you are asked to Upgrade your database when you launch Resolve after an upgrade. If the database gets updated, it will not be compatible with earlier Resolve releases. If you have a database backup of your current release, you can always go back to your current release, if there is something in the new release that creates an issue for you.
It's a good policy to backup your database periodically anyway. Everything you've done in Resolve except media files, is stored in the database. If anything happens to the database, you will have lost all your projects, unless you had individual projects backed up with Export+ (also a very good idea for important projects).
To backup your database, launch Resolve. At the User Login page, you will see a Database Manager button at the bottom. Select that to open the database manager window. One of the options in this window is Backup. Clicking that will allow you to backup the currently selected database. If you only have one database, it will be selected by default. If you have multiple databases, highlight the one you wish to backup, then click Backup. A Finder type file window will open, allowing you to select where to save the database backup. It will have a default name, but you should probably change that to something recognizable. I would also suggest putting the Resolve version somewhere in the name.
I would also suggest keeping a copy of your database on something other than the system hard drive Resolve is installed on, in case the hard drive develops an issue.
